"This charming apartment is in the heart of the Marais district and offers every amenity (washer/dryer, fully appointed kitchen with appliances, TV, WiFi, phone, even guide books in English.) It is within walking distance (we are in our mid fifties and can't walk very far in a day) of the Bastille market, Picasso Museum, Norte Dame Cathedral and dozens of interesting shops and restaurants. The apartment layout is somewhat quirky, but has an interesting history of several tiny apartments joined together to make one, very roomy, place. Consequently, there are several places with low beams on which to bump your head, but they are 300 year old bits of wooden history, which makes up for it! If you need a break from each other, this apartment has six (counting the bathroom) separate spaces in which to retreat to be partially or completely alone. Try doing that in a typical hotel room! The lovely terrace was usable even in late October, and we sat out there every evening before dinner to catch our breath from the day's events and to enjoy a glass of wine. After seeing the tiny room that friends had booked at the local Hilton, we were even more appreciative of this spacious apartment.
Hands down, the best thing about this apartment rental was the manager, Enzo, who went out of his way several times to make sure that our stay was enjoyable. He accommodated our schedules, recommended restaurants, and was invaluable in helping us get mail. I lost my wallet in Los Angeles International Airport and hour before our flight, and needed to cancel all my cards and order replacements to be sent to us in Paris. Enzo helped facilitate the delivery of these cards, and we couldn't have done it without his assistance as the only French words we know are food related!
I would not recommend this apartment for someone with impaired mobility as there is no elevator/lift, but we were surprised to find that we didn't mind taking the stairs several times a day. A small price to pay in order to stay in the heart of Paris and pretend to be locals for a week. (smile and nod, avoid wearing garish colors and don fashionable shoes and you, too, can blend in!)
The barbaric attacks on Paris came a week after we left, but that WILL NOT deter us from happily booking this apartment again on our next visit."
