"Standing at its nondescript street facade, you would never suspect the tranquil garden within. The interior cobblestone walkway leads into flowers and greenery, complete with whimsical sculpture. Several apartments open into the courtyard. Yours is straight ahead. Neighbors are respectful of each other's privacy.
Inside is light, airy, and scrupulously clean. Plus mercifully quiet, after tromping the glorious but loud, crowded streets of Paris all day. Glossy hardwood floors, contemporary wood cabinetry, modern appliances, soft towels, washcloths, and a James Dean poster make Americans feel at home. There is a bathtub as well as a shower, a microwave, fridge, dishwasher and a clothes washing machine (although only a wire rack for drying). The TV has several English-speaking news channels. Simple, small and comfortable.
The best part of Move Over Monet is its property manager. David thinks of everything. Arrangements for the rental were handled efficiently by email. He met us at the front door with a gift bottle of wine. David explained each feature of the apartment very clearly and with polished panache, from the front door keypad to the switches for opening the skylights to the operation of the electric stove. The book of instructions on the glass dining table included the best of the nearby boulangeries, restaurants, an English-speaking taxi company, and encouragement to stroll the neighborhood shops and visit the Rue Cler farmer's market.
We used all of those tips with great indulgence. Le Moulin de la Vierge at 64 Rue St Dominique immediately became our breakfast spot. The Carrefour grocery store at 84 Rue St Dominique carries the mundane staples. Try France's new Merveilleux meringue pastries at 94 Rue St Dominique.
So, don't stay in a hotel. Move Over Monet offers comfort and tranquility, before and after your 10-60 minute walks to the Eiffel Tower, Napoleon's tomb, Musee d'Orsay, Louvre, Notre Dame, and festivals along the Seine. The apartment's location is great, the price is right, and everything works."
