  • In love with Paris!

"The location of this property could not be better! It is stocked with guides and information for tourists, has a very comfy bed, and every comfort one might need. With wifi and phone available, it's easy to stay connected if you want to! I loved walking through the courtyard and looking out the fantastic window. The only glitch was the lock which was difficult to open and close. I can't wait to return to Paris and hopefully to this lovely apartment."

  • Perfect for a family!

"My husband and I just stayed in this apartment for two weeks with our 10 and 12 year old daughters. The location could not be more ideal - very close to multiple metro stops and steps from the Rue de Martyrs. We initially picked this apartment largely because the second bedroom has two separate single beds rather than one double bed (much better for sibling harmony!) but it turned out that we loved absolutely everything about the place. The apartment is huge by Paris standards and the kitchen was modern, spacious, and fully stocked with all the cooking equipment you need. We ate many meals at the apartment. There was plenty of storage for all our clothes and the bathroom was fantastic - no problem with four people using the same bathroom. The washer dryer worked beautifully and it was so nice to be able to do laundry so we were able to pack light. There are two separate security doors before you get to the apartment which makes the apartment feel very safe and secure. Finally, Paula, the apartment manager, was awesome. She gave us the full tour and showed us how everything worked, and even answered questions quickly during our stay. We would definitely come back to this apartment - it was perfect in every way!"

  • Cosy apartment in a beautiful town

"My husband and I and two friends stayed in this top floor 2 bedrom apartment in the old town of Annecy for three nights. Annecy is a very pretty town built on canals and at the top of Lake Annecy. Our apartment was a restored apartment featuring exposed beams and woodwork but had modern facilities. We walked into the kitchen/dining area which had a dining table and TV and the kitchen was compact with a microwave/convection oven, ceramic hotplates, fridge, coffee makers, toaster and full range of cooking implements and ware for self catering, as well as ample crockery and cutlery. One bedroom was to one side of this room and overlooked a little canal. This room was small and had a good pull out sofa with a proper mattress. The other bedroom was to the other side of the kitchen area along with the separate toilet with basin and separate shower and basin. The other bedroom had 2 single beds and was very spacious. There was a washing machine and we had use of Wifi connection. Dominique was great host and informed us of all we had to know about Annecy. We highly recommend this property."

Languedoc-Roussillon Travel Tips

Immerse Yourself in the Culture of Languedoc Roussillon

There is no better way to discover and enjoy the culture of a foreign destination than to become a resident there, even if it is just for a short time. Languedoc Roussillon vacation rentals offer just that opportunity. In your own apartment or home, you can quietly observe the comings and goings of the locals, seek out the local bakery, butcher and café, and bargain for fresh produce at the local market. It'll help if you can speak a little French as it'll make it easier to get around. Even if you don't, you'll soon pick up a few phrases so that you can get by. Rather than being labeled as a tourist, you'll simply be a visitor that's staying a little while. Once you've experienced provincial life, it'll be tempting to return time and again to this wonderful corner of Europe.

Getting to and Around Languedoc Roussillon

The major airports in the area are Montpellier-Mediterranean Airport and Nîmes-Arles-Camargue. Smaller airports that have incoming regional flights are Carcassonne (Salvaza) and Note re Carcasonne Airport. International flight connections will take you via Paris, London or Madrid. A number of low cost airlines from the UK offer great deals and are worth investigating when checking flights. Once in France, there is an extensive public transport system consisting of trains, buses and trams. You can also hire a car if you will be exploring further afield but be sure of your ability to drive on the narrow country roads and busy highways. Many active travelers staying at Languedoc Roussillon villas choose to explore the region by bike; while it requires a good level of fitness, it's a superb way to take in the countryside and experience the local culture.

Seasonal fun in Languedoc Roussillon

Languedoc Roussillon accommodations are set in some of France's most scenic countryside. The region is bordered by the Mediterranean sea to the east and the Pyranees Mountains to the south. It is one of the warmer regions in France and attracts visitors throughout the year. In the summertime, there's a hive of activity as sun-lovers flock to the coastal towns and cities. The atmosphere is festive and there are numerous events to keep you entertained. Further inland there are rivers, lakes and nature reserves that are great to explore with the family. In the wintertime, snow sports can be enjoyed in the mountain regions. The area is popular for cross country and downhill skiing as well as dog sledding and ice skating.

Visit Historic Sites by Languedoc Roussillon Villas

One of Europe's great attractions is its rich history and culture. In Languedoc Roussillon, one of the most notable cultures is that of the Cathars. A religious group that started in the 11th century, it became the dominant religion in the Languedoc region in the 12th century. However, many of the Cathar views directly opposed those of the Roman Catholic Church and this resulted in open animosity between the two organizations. In the 12th century, the Vatican led a crusade against the Cathars with the objective of eliminating them. The genocide which lasted for two generations resulted in the death of close to 500,000 people, including many who were Catholic. Today, many of the cultural sites are linked to this history. There are many memorials dedicated to the Cathar martyrs and the Cathar castle ruins still stand tall. The many beautiful cathedrals, abbeys and churches in the region are worth visiting if you have an interest in architecture. There are numerous museums that showcase different themes and aspects of the region's history and culture.
