  • Perfect home away from home.

"We spent one week in this beautiful gite "Blanc" and wished it could have been longer. An absolutely stunning barn conversion - a perfect meld of traditional and modern design - we felt so comfortable and at home here. The personal touches were much appreciated - on our arrival there was wine and fresh bread, and the kitchen was well stocked with tea, coffee, milk.. everything you need after a long journey. We were lucky to have the whole place to ourselves, and used the all the various outdoor areas in perfect solitude. The gite is one of three buildings, all part of a beautiful old mill house, Le Moulin. There is a large garden, and "Blanc" has a lovely private patio by the mill pond. It was lovely to listen to the sound of the near-by running stream, soothing both day and night. Le Moulin is in a beautiful spot, surrounded by fields, with several villages within walking distance, if you fancy a stroll to the boulangerie. Quartres Routes has a good sized supermarket for pretty much everything you need.. And the bigger town of Martel with more choice is not far away. Carennac is well worth a visit.. but to be honest pretty much everywhere around here is stunning. Personal recommendations are: * Swimming in the Dordogne river! It's worth exploring to find the perfect spot. Maybe head towards Vayrac or Carennac. * Lascaux II is a bit of a drive away, but totally worth it if you have even the slightest interest in the origins of art and humanity. Check the tour times in advance - entrance is only by guided tour only, and we had to wait a couple of hours. But it was totally worth it. * Sarlat is a beautiful old town worth the 45 minute drive. Wednesdays and Saturdays for the market. * Rocamadour is incredible. All in all, we would definitely recommend this gite to anyone looking for a home away from home. Thank you so much to the owners for providing such a wonderful place to stay!"

  • A great place to stay

"Seven adult members of our family stayed there. We used both the house and the flat below. The house and village have a lot of charm and good amenities. There was lots of space and places for us to have space to ourselves as well as good communal spaces. The views are stunning. There are many things to do visiting other places in the area and we enjoyed doing that in the seven days we spent there. It was good to have help at hand for advice etc from the manager living in the next street. We had two stunning family dinners at Chez Niko in the village square. The dinner on the night we arrived was a great way to start our time there. We hired a large van at Toulouse airport and using a tom tom managed to find our way to the house easily and get to all the places we wanted to visit in the area. Google searches produced a lot of information on well developed web sites about places to visit and things to do that were all enjoyable. The castle at Mauriac was one of many highlights. It is a shame the local Gaillac (Gai-ac) wines are not available at home. It was a great experience and a most enjoyable family holiday. The cost of living there for accommodation and food, visits etc was relatively low. You need to plan around services being shut over longish lunch periods and there being little open on Sundays and public holidays but there are still some cafes open and things to do. This was a great place to stay, it exceeded our expectations."
