  • À bientôt, Le Merviel

"Our group of 10, aged 1 to 70, stayed at Le Merviel in October 2013. Two weeks wasn’t long enough in this grand, yet intimate country home in a region mostly undiscovered by guidebook crowds. Perhaps it’s less trespassed because rail lines don’t reach this tiny village. But the SNCF is easily accessible. We caught a train into Toulouse to amuse our sons and made a pleasant day of it. You’ll want a car for day trips to nearby ruins, medieval villages, and prehistoric caves. (Don’t make our mistake. Skip Andorra.) Our sense of human history was reshaped by a guided English-language tour of 13K-year-old cave drawings at Niaux. Stirring, especially for Californians like us who think the Gold Rush happened a long time ago. We broke up our adventures with long stints sunning on the patio and feasting on our farmers’ market finds. We toasted many return visits together. Nowhere in France have we enjoyed lovelier scenery. Picture a quilt of farms beneath castle-topped foothills and the Pyrénées just beyond. Tony has wonderful suggestions for hikes, sights, etc. Take him up on as many as you can. But first, book it."

  • Beautiful villa in the south of France!

"This last May I had the amazing opportunity of staying at this beautiful house in southern France. Built in the 17th century, the house has a unique and historical feel to it compared to other places I've stayed in France. Comprising of several bedrooms, the house offers a great deal amount of space if you are looking for renting a place suitable for a family plus a modern kitchen which is perfect for cooking big meals. Besides the house, the property also includes another small house which is primarily used for storage, however, one part was converted into a living room that overlooks a vineyard in the small valley below. There is also a pool and a hot tub available to use, however, due to the weather, the pool was closed when I visited the property. In regards to the region where the house is located, I had no complaints. Located in the small community of Flottes less than fifteen minutes away from the bigger town of Cahors, the surrounding neighborhood is peaceful and quiet and offers a great setup if you are interested in traveling to other historical towns in the area. Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, Rocamadour, Montcuq, and Castelnau-Montratier are just a few of the towns I had the opportunity on visiting and each one had great things to see and visit. The last thing that I loved the most was the food. During my whole stay, I don't believe I had one really bad experience with food. Everything was fresh and restaurants were easy to come by which made the stay even more enjoyable. The people were also friendly and welcoming even if they didn't speak your language. I guess if I were to say one negative thing about the trip, it would be about the weather that I experienced. For almost half of the vacation it was raining and cold, however, it didn't stop me from going out and exploring. Besides the weather, though, I had an amazing experience staying at this house. I would definitely return sometime in the near future if I come back to southern France. The property offered many great features and a great location for traveling to other areas in southern France. If you are interested in experiencing authentic France, definitely stay at this place, I recommend it!"

A refaire"
