  • Wonderful place to experience the French countryside

"I stayed at the Commanderie with my family in March, and it was an incredible experience. The medieval architecture was beautiful, and the bedrooms and common areas were spacious and comfortable. The house is great for families—5 bedrooms (2 for kids), gorgeous swimming pool, large, elegant dining table, and a great courtyard for relaxing and enjoying the fresh air. Watching the sunset from the garden was amazing! All the amenities were appreciated, and the market was not a far drive. Aubais is a beautiful medieval town that is not so crowded and has wonderful sights. You can really experience the French countryside here. Overall, a magical place to spend your vacation. Would stay here again!"

  • highly recommended

"i have to admit as a likely returnee to chez ellen that i have a conflict of interest in heaping effusive praise on this property, but it is special and i feel obligated to share that information with other travelers. The view of the valley and the mountains in the VRBO photo literally does not do justice to the actual view from both the living room and a bedroom balcony. The house itself feels as if it's been carved into the side of a hill and is spacious enough to accommodate comfortably two couples for as long as they want to explore the luberon. The kitchen is well enough equipped to make most meals altho in this oasis of great little restaurants, you're unlikely to cook anything of significance in-house. Ansouis is a small hilltop town w/ as midieval a feel as you're likely to encounter absent access to a working time machine."

  • Comfortable Stay and Convenient Location

"We recently returned from a short family visit to Paris. We wanted a centrally located apartment close to a metro stop, close to one of the main tourist attractions, and for a reasonable price. This apartment met all the requirements. We found the pictures and description to be accurate and Pierre was always very helpful and responsive when we had questions. Though the Camps Elysees is crowded and bustling all the time, the apartment was actually very quiet and calm, and the window looks out to the inner courtyard. A grocery store is also nearby, which was very helpful in helping us save funds for other activities. We were two adults and two kids, and managed quite well in the apartment. The furniture is a bit used but comfortable. I have advised Pierre to follow-up on a few cleaning issues within the apartment, but overall we were satisfied and would consider coming back to the apartment in future."

Provence Travel Tips

Reserve Provence Rentals and Explore the Local French History

While traveling throughout France, a visit to Provence is in demand to see many of the region’s breathtaking views and attractions. Enjoy the seasonal lavender fields that stretch as far as the eye can see, historical chateaus and even local abbeys found near Provence rentals.

Venture out from Provence Rentals and Enjoy the Natural Wonders

During the summer months, your Provence accommodation offers easy access to expansive lavender fields found throughout the local region. You’ll love the beautiful colors and photos that look much like a postcard. These wild lavender fields are accented by golden wheat fields seen throughout your Provence travel destinations, and serve as a gorgeous backdrop to many famous sites in the area and a highlight of your France vacation.

Choose a Provence Accommodation and Visit the Three Sisters

Senanque Abbey, Silvacane Abbey and Thoronet Abbey are known as the "three sisters of Provence," and are easily accessible from Provence rentals. These 12th-century abbeys were built to house monks of the Cistercian order. Enjoy a day away from your Provence accommodation, touring the church, dormitory and chapter house found in the abbeys. If you prefer, your Provence travel can even include a hike in the hills surrounding one of the abbeys, complete with a picnic and scenic view of surrounding lavender fields.

Include a Visit to Javon Chateau during Your Provence Travel

Built in the 16th century, the Javon Chateau served as shelter for many knights during the Renaissance period. This site, found near Provence rentals, evokes the feeling of stark royalty complemented by well-kept gardens. This Provence accommodation has been owned by the same family for the past five generations, and was recently used during the Second World War. Currently, the chateau serves as a private residence and cannot be toured, though the exterior offers beautiful photo opportunities to remember your Provence travel adventures.
