  • Relaxing and beautiful

"Villa Nova was a perfect villa to explore St. Remy and the surrounding towns. Julie was a superb host. It was in the high 90's so air conditioning in the bedrooms would have been great to have since it was very warm upstairs and that is the only thing that could be improved. We loved the beautifully appointed villa!"

  • Provence Paradise

"We spent two delightful weeks at Monika's Sheherazde in June. At this time of year the days are hot and sunny, but the nights are cool. Though the cottage is equipped with air conditioning, we didn't use it the whole time! But we did enjoy the pool, where my wife swam multiple laps daily. Though her mobility is limited (she uses a walker), she found it easy to get in and out of the pool, and managed to do so without assistance. The cottage offers easy access, with one small step up; being all one level is a plus, so is the spacious bathroom with standup shower. It was such a pleasure to get to know Monika, who is a kind and generous host. We shared drinks and dinner with her several times on her poolside patio, and enjoyed her company at restaurants she recommended. She thoughtfully introduced us to her select circle of friends, which helped us improve our French while enjoying the social whirl. Monika herself speaks several languages, including perfect English, and is gifted in so many ways. Thank you for making our visit so special, Monika! Her "estate" is about 4 acres, and very much an oasis amid the commercial zone that has spread out around Cavaillon. Her 200 year old farm house faces south and overlooks a small orchard (thanks for the apricots, Monika!) and open fields dotted with cypress and lavender. The cottage is an annex to the house, but sheltered by a high garden wall which affords ample privacy if you want it. It is all very peaceful and beautiful. This is an ideal base for touring, on the edge of the hilly Luberon to the east and the Van Gogh country of Arles and St. Remy to the west. Daily markets offer excellent local produce and lovely wines. Not to be missed are nearby hill-towns like Menerbes and Gordes, as well as lesser-known Lourmarin nestled in a sunny warm valley. Sightseeing opportunities abound, though we seldom got beyond the restaurant terraces where we lingered over sumptuous lunches. Special mention should be made of the cuisine at Sous le Micocouliers in the village of Eygalieres, where the multi-course luncheons under the trees in the garden were a gastronomic high-point of our trip. We would certainly enjoy a return visit, and recommend Sheherazade in the highest possible terms!"

  • Loved every minute!

"It's difficult to capture the beauty of this home in pictures. Due to the setup of the property, there are so many different vistas - each unique for it's own type of enjoyment. Every meal was spent outside on the patio listening to nothing but the birds and the crickets. Around the corner from the patio is a yard overlooking a vineyard which was perfect for boules (one of the games supplied). Further down the path, you find yourself looking past the pool down a corridor lined with lavender and olive trees. What a delight it was to swim in the beautifully maintained pool and watch my boys run around the surrounding yard. Our boys are 11 and 18 and we all had a fabulous time. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and there is a major grocery store that is close. The way the property is set, we felt all alone. The fact that such a major grocery would be so close is shocking. The manager of the property was a perfect combination of helpful yet respectful of our privacy. Upon leaving, she asked us how our stay could have been more enjoyable. Apparently the owners are very interested in that information. I believe it. Truth is I did say I would have liked a few more comfortable chairs.....who knows, though, perhaps they are really comfortable to you. One more thing that I didn't mention to Suzi was the creak as you stepped in the upstairs bedroom. Here's the thing. It's a 17th century farmhouse! That's part of the charm!"
