  • Loved, loved, loved the whole experience

"The setting is beautiful and the location is in a rural area yet close to site seeing opportunities. This makes it a perfect vacation spot. The farm house is just wonderful and just what you would expect to find amongst the grape vines. The flower garden is gorgeous. It is a delight to enjoy the delicious breakfast either on the private patio or in the flower garden. The one bedroom apartment is tastefully decorated and has everything you need. Charles and Andree are a delightful couple and eager to help you with all your needs. We feel as if we not only had a wonderful experience at their lovely farm house but also have gained new friends. We hope to return someday."

  • Beautiful rental in perfect location!

"We enjoyed staying at this apartment during a recent 5 day visit to Avignon. The guest space was used by our daughter and new son-in-law, which gave them some privacy. The main unit was so beautiful, stone walls, beamed ceilings, comfortable furniture. It was great to have the garden space because we used it for several meals, and for sitting our with a glass of wine after a busy day. I would be happy to recommend this property to a friend or relative and would be happy to return for another visit myself!"

  • Beautiful and Peaceful

"Our stay at Claude and Sylviane's House was amazing. We rented the whole house for our large group of 15. All of the bedrooms were beautiful with high end en-suite bathrooms. The kitchen living and dining areas were newly remodeled, very large and comfortable. The outdoor area was equally as nice. The outdoor areas feature a garden with fruit trees, lavender and areas to play soccer, basketball and pétanque. On the other side of the house are the pool, outdoor covered kitchen and dining, and a large fire place. There is also a car port with a ping pong table. There was something for everyone at Le Moulin Vieux. Claude and Sylviane could not have been more accommodating. Claude picked a group of us up at the train station in Avignon and led our group on the 20 minute ride back to the house. Once there he arranged for dinner for us on the first night. The following day Claude and Sylviane gave us the best summary of where to go in Provence. This helped us greatly to narrow down our day trips to the must see villages and landmarks. Claude also supplied us with new soccer balls, basketballs, and ping pong equipment as well as making sure that the pool and all other amenities were working well. The area around Le Moulin Vieux is equally as beautiful as the property itself. Just outside the front gate is the river Sorgue. There is a wooded walking path along the Sorgue that eventually leads to a quiet road surrounded by farmland with mountain views. This made for amazing walks and bike rides. Within 2 blocks of the property is a bakery with very good baguettes and pastries and rotisserie chicken and pork on Sunday's. There is also a small market and large grocery store less than a mile from the property. The House is far enough removed from the village center that it is very quiet. Provence itself is beautiful. At Claude and Sylviane's recommendation we visited at least 10 villages including: Gordes, Arle, Le Beaux, St. Remy de Provence, Avignon, Velaron. All of the recommended villages were well worth visiting. Overall Le Moulin Vieux should be at the top of anyone's list when looking for a luxury property centrally located for day trips or a place to stay and relax all day. The property was beautiful, the attention we received was excellent and the location can't be beat."

Avignon Travel Tips

Avignon Rentals Allow You to Experience the French Culture Firsthand

Avignon, France is known for the exquisite choices in local cuisine, historical attractions and bustling community. Plan a stay in Avignon rentals to enjoy the breathtaking French culture that your entire family is sure to enjoy.

Stay in Avignon Rentals and Tour the Palace

Your Avignon accommodation offers easy access to the Palais des Papes, or "Palace of the Popes." Steeped in cultural and religious history, this structure was built by Pope Benedict XII in the 14th century. Enjoy this example of ancient French architecture during your Provence travel plans.

Tour the Best Avignon Accommodation during Your Travels

Any stay in Avignon rentals demands a look into how the "other half" lives. The Palais du Roure offers an insightful day away from your Avignon accommodation as you tour this huge and ornate mansion built in the 1400s. Known as a local cultural center, it formerly served as both a private residence and even a hotel. Pierre Baroncelli managed to keep passing the mansion down on to future generations through the 1900s. You’ll find the artifacts and library here quite helpful during your Provence travel activities as well.

Climb a Tower and Stay Fit during Your Provence Travel

Venture out from your Avignon rentals and climb to the top of Tour Philippe le Bel, a landmark tower originally built for military purposes. Philippe the Fair ordered the tower to be built in the 13th century, and it sits atop the infamous and scenic Rhine Valley. Your unforgettable stay in an Avignon accommodation is complete once you experience the views from the top of this tower, but be prepared! With 172 spiraling steps, this may be the most physically demanding part of your entire Provence travel plans. Afterward, spend some time enjoying fine wine on the streets of Avignon and recoup from the adventurous day.
