  • Charming accommodations in the heart of St. Remy

"During our week stay, we were delighted with this charming townhouse situated on the lavender-studded grounds of a former villa. Proximity to an excellent bakery and to the heart of St. Remy within several blocks walk made for a great start to the day and easy exploration of this lively town, its wonderful restaurants and shops, and its splendid Wednesday market. Being located on a main road out of town also made getting out to explore the surrounding environs and sites easy. The house is bright and airy with shutters and doors open. Everything was clean, well organized, and well maintained. We loved the spaciousness of the kitchen/dining area and the cozy living room that led to a small patio area, especially nice for morning coffee or an evening drink. The two upstairs bedrooms are quite comfortable, and the bathroom is nicely appointed. Armoires and a downstairs closet offer sufficient storage for clothes and suitcases. We very much appreciated the amenities such as Wi-Fi, washer and dryer, and dishwasher, as well as the starter supplies. Having a dedicated parking place within a gated community is a big plus as parking is hard to come by in busy St. Remy. Although it was quite warm during our stay, having no air conditioning was not a problem. Rotating fans are available in the upstairs rooms. Do bring a sleep mask if you want to leave the shutters open at night for air circulation. The townhouse is situated between two well-traveled roadways, leading in and out of town. Passing traffic does mean that some of the tranquility of the surroundings is lost; this isn’t a major drawback if you are prepared for it or are used to some street sounds. On weekends, motorcyclists and cars seemed to delight in racing noisily through town. In terms of overall space, this small house is probably most ideal for two people, although four people can certainly be accommodated. It is a most welcoming place to return to after a day of touring. Margaret, the owner, is as delightful as her townhouse. Her instruction manual for the house is extremely helpful, as are her recommendations for restaurants, shops, and places of interest to see. Speak with her ahead of time, and she’ll be glad to answer any questions you may have. She’ll also send you her recommendations ahead of time so you can start planning your stay in St. Remy. We are already longing to return."

  • Just Lovely

"This is the most beautiful property, it is exactly as described. It was warm and comfortable for our winter visit, albeit in spring-like weather. We loved the views, especially waking up in the morning and watching, through the little circular, as it got light. The village shops are very good and everyone was very friendly. Paolo is very co-operative and easy to deal with, by email. We will certainly return."

  • Have your own place with a touch of B&B

"We have just returned from 16 nights in France. 7 nights at La Madone in Apt. The apartment was roomy and comfortable. Warm bread and pain au chocolat arrive at your door each morning. We especially enjoyed apertifs in the garden with the other residents and our host and hostess. A bit of converstion with Nathalie and Jean-Bernard was a delight. We may never get the opportunity to return, but would love to if it were possible. The location in Apt makes touring the mountain top towns (we had a car/no gps) and the lavender fields easy navigating Necessities like groceries were easily available. A good choice all around."

  • Wonderful place to stay for our week in Provence!

"Kathleen was most responsive and helpful from our first inquiry about her property until our very last day. The apartment is wonderfully spacious, with numerous French doors leading out to two spacious patios. The property has a very open layout, which we really enjoyed. Everything worked properly, except for the satellite TV which may have simply been our lack of knowledge as to how to use it. The beds were extremely comfortable, although renters should be aware that they are lower to the floor than we are used to in the US. We found this true of all the beds in the 3 apartments we rented in France this trip, so the beds in this property seem to be the norm. Kathleen was wonderful to rent from. Her son, John even solved the problem of our lost Internet one evening - he and his family also live on the property. He is equally as pleasant to deal with as Kathleen. Aix is an easy drive from the property, as is the grocery store. It was nice to stay outside the city, but have easy access when we wanted. One point for the elderly or anyone having mobility issues - there are stone steps that must be used to get up to the property. This was not an issue for us, nor would it be for most people, but just wanted to make note of it. Thanks, Kathleen, for all your help, and allowing us to spend a wonderful week in your lovely property."
