"If you are looking for the ultimate experience in France, Oaks and Olives is the place. The house is perfect: absolutely charming while totally modern and functional. The kitchen is large and well equipped (you can tell the hosts are serious about their food!), the living/dining space is large and comfortable, and with two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and two with a shared bathroom, there is plenty of room. One patio gets lovely morning sun and the other, overlooking the beautiful garden, pool, olive and fruit trees, is perfect for afternoon and evenings. The covered outdoor eating area is beautiful any time of the day. The location is a great balance of quiet countryside (house location) within easy distance of so many charming towns, all with great food and interesting markets. Hiking, biking, walking or touring around are all fun. Access is easy, whether within France or from elsewhere. The TGV (fast train) from Paris comes to Avignon (about 30 mins away) and the international airport at Marseille is about 45 mins by car. Over and above all of the practical info, the hosts' attention to detail - from time of first contact to property maintenance - is significantly different from any other rental experience. Personal, prompt attention is given to the rental request, additional information happily provided, tons of useful, local information is available in the house upon arrival and the house and grounds are beautifully maintained. This visit was my second to Oaks and Olives. I was fortunate to stay in 2012 and am happy to report that the adage "you cannot go back again" does not apply. It was even better on a return trip, which I simply did not think possible, so I am already thinking about booking again - soon! Cannot recommend more highly."

  • The perfect cliche'

"This house is all that you would hope it would be! We stay in luxury homes all over the world and this was not a disappointment! Charming is the perfect word without calling the house small for a family of 5! We loved the house, the location, the nearby villages and markets....all a dreamy place to relax, read, and just be with each other! The beds were comfy, the decor was beautiful, the amenities were all that we needed. I would definitely return!"

  • Perfect house for two couples

"This house is exactly as it's described except for the view - it's incredible and honestly can't be captured in a photo. We were two couples exploring Provence for the first time using this charming house in Gordes as our home base. The walk to the hilltop village is about 20 minutes along a delightful (and uphill) trail; the Gordes restaurants, even in the slow season of October, were perfect for us (L'Artegal was our best meal of the week and Mamma Gordes was casual and easy - we walked up that hill twice for the pizza and wine). Although we really didn't cook, the kitchen was plenty accommodating to our needs, with colorful dishes to put out our spread from each day's market. The Luberon region is lovely and central - perfect for walks out the front door or day trips in the car. Our gathering place was the first level living room - cozy with a fireplace that we used several times. With the master bedroom on the first level, the second couple had the whole upstairs to themselves - it was great. We've stayed in fancier villas but Les Mas des Agapanthes was comfortable, clean and perfect for this trip. The whole experience, from booking to check in/out, was professional and easy. Highly recommend."

  • I never knew that Paradise could be so simple. I'd give it 10 stars.

"Provence is magnificent, the Luberon district (a national park) more so, and the tiny medieval village of Ansouis, built on a hill even more delightful. I stayed over Christmas and the New Year and then couldn't help staying on for a week or two more in this warm-hearted home in a charming stone house with a view and an atmosphere you'll never forget. For anyone who like things around them to work, everything does. This house is comfortable and perfectly equipped, but I found the tranquility even more refreshing than all the comforts that this home provides. The villages around, each with excellent restaurants were a joy to visit too. Ansouis has an exceptional restaurant, and of course a village boulangerie for a daily baguette. Provencal life has a charm that's unique in our world and I can't wait to go back. Some of France's most charming Southern towns, like Aix, are nearby and the markets are glorious - there's superb food of every imaginable sort - remember this is a region famed for it's fruit and produce. And you're bound to find many tempting second hand treasures and desirable pieces of bric-a-brac. I could write pages about how much I enjoyed this simple paradise, but since this is simply a recommendation, I hope I've said enough. It's a genuinely magical place which I doubt that anyone, either on their own, or with a partner or family, could fail to enjoy."
