  • Very charming house, stunningly beautiful region, authentic Provence

"This was the third time I stayed in this lovely house: I fell in love with it and the village of Saignon several years ago, because it still feels and looks like an authentic French Provence village, not a luxury touristic estate. The good surprise this year was the new top floor terrace, second kitchen and extra bedroom & very modern second bathroom at the top of the house, which means in summer you breakfast on the terrace looking out over the roman-tiled roofs of the entire village. This is in addition to: a downstairs hallway & utility room, a kitchen and large drawing room , all on the first floor; then a master bedroom and a large guest bedroom plus a bathroom and a small sewing room. The house wa stone-built to last centuries ago, so even at midday in August, the rooms inside are cool and restful. The décor is shabby elegant in the way decorators strive for; but here it is authentic. There's a combination of old family furniture, comfortable sofas you sink in, antique tiled floors, garden chairs in the kitchen, books that have been read and re-read in the bookcases; but good firm beds. It's got oodles of charm and enough modern conveniences to spend a great summer en famille. You need a car because the local buses are slow and come every hour or so only; the one going from Apt (the market town a couple of miles down the hill from Saignon), all the way to the TGV station at Avignon takes nearly two hours. The area is stunningly beautiful; you can walk across picture-book lavender fields; visit the region's chateaux and monasteries; attend the Avignon theatre festival in season (summer) as well as many summer classical music festivals; there's a municipal swimming pool for your teenagers at Apt. Further out is Aix en Provence with the greatest French opera festival in summer. Avignon had monuments and museums from the time it was the Pope's residence; it also has goos restaurants; and of course the entire countryside was where Cézanne, Picasso, Renoir, and many more painted. In short, I wish I wre back there now!...."

  • A Place to Fall in Love With...

"We stayed in this lovely cabanon in Aug 2013, but we forgot to write a review earlier. However, when I came across the advertisement again, wonderful memories came into my mind. It is indeed a wonderful little place, very nicely done up and cosy. Go there during the lavender season - the smell of lavender surrounds you when you have breakfast or dinner at the little terrace outside. A wonderful place to fall in love with; spend time with a loved on there. We would love to go back again."

  • Unforgettable stay at the Olive

"My husband and I, and our daughter stayed at the Olive for a month last summer. The Olive was the perfect choice for a month of relaxing time in Provence. The house was very nice, well equipped and the surrounding garden of olive trees is absolutely beautiful. We spend many lovely days and evenings on the terrace overlooking the garden and the mountains. The house is located very close to the little charming village Saigon and we went to the bakery every morning by a little working path surrounded by wine yards. Marie-Christine and Roland was the most friendly and thoughtful hosts you can think of. They had equipped the house for our baby daughter upon our arrival, and they were helpfull through all our stay in giving good advice for trips, the best markets and so on. My parents came and stayed in the other house on the property "Cerise" and it was really perfect for two families. All together, we had an unforgettable stay at the Olive and we definitely want to come back."

  • Charming

"We spent a week here in late August 2012, and were lucky enough to come back for a few days last May. It is without a doubt one of the most effortlessly relaxing spots one could find in the world. The surrounding region borders on the excessive in its charms: fantastic nature for walks; lovely towns for coffee and food; perfect views to compliment a bottle of wine. The houses themselves are thoughtfully furnished, the pool is lovely an the garden is well kept. Most importantly, the entire experience is hassle free. Everything is so agreeable in fact, we're looking forward to visiting for a late summer's holiday again this year."
