  • Delightful country retreat, beautiful accommodation, pool, garden, great host

"We (husband, son, daughter-in-law) loved the Garden House. The pictures don't do it justice. The house feels new and all the rooms felt spacious with high ceilings. The shower was fabulous, the beds and linens superb, and it was deeply quiet at night. I loved the tapestry in the living room and the furnishings are to a high standard. The owner, James, clearly cares about aesthetics. James left us a very welcome basket of delicacies and treats upon arrival. As we had gotten turned around on the way there and had not had time to stop for food, this was a god-send. We loved taking advantage of the expansive outdoor olive garden, a couple little mini-specialty garden nooks, the relaxing hammocks, and the beautiful pool area. With four of us, we could each spread out and have our own space, whether inside or outside. My husband and i enjoyed a walk into St. Remy one day (~1 hour 10 minutes) along a Roman Canal. It was quiet, pretty and peaceful. Ask James how to get there. We also cooked dinner most nights and enjoyed eating at the table in front of the house. James showed us how to get to a great large grocery store that had everything we wanted. This way we could stay home and relax after busy days visiting Arles, Pont du Gard and Avignon. James was a delight and made the whole experience more personal. While he had great suggestions about the local area, what we enjoyed most was a happy hour with him where we discussed art and life in Southern France among other topics. James has lived all over the world and chooses to live at this property which is a great endorsement alone. All four of us strongly endorse the Garden House for a special stay in the St. Remy area."

  • The crème de la crème in Aix-en-Provence

"My wife and I recently spent three memorable weeks in this gorgeous rental apartment. The moment we spotted the hand-made "Bienvenue en Provence" sign mounted by the front door, with a bright-yellow sunflower painted on it, we knew we were going to have a pleasant experience. The ambience of this apartment, which seemed more like a "villa" to us, is très Provençal. We've never stayed in a rental apartment (in Paris, or anywhere else) that was more user-friendly, and so well-equipped with everything from kitchen appliances, utensils, cookware, dishes, and glassware; to linens, tablecloths, and other household supplies. We appreciated the many special touches by the owner, whose tastes are impeccable, because they made the place feel like a cozy "home-away-from-home" throughout our stay. The location of the apartment, on the Cours Mirabeau, could not be more convenient. And we especially enjoyed the patio/terrace area, with its plants and shrubbery, because it made us feel as if we were surrounded by the peace and quiet of a secret garden. Security and access to the apartment complex are excellent, although we had no need to use the garage; and the owner responded quickly via email and/or telephone to resolve any issues that arose during our stay. The only disappointment we suffered was when we had to leave our little "Shangri-La" in the south of France! We highly recommend this apartment, with no reservations whatsoever. Our heart-felt thanks go to Valerie for sharing her little piece of paradise with us, and we look forward to a return engagement in the future."

  • A GEM IN THE HEARTH OF PROVENCE

"We were three couples in our sixty and stayed at the Renardière from Sept 27th to Oct 4Th. The house surpassed all of our expectations. It is beautifully decorated, ultra clean and has all accessories you may need from kitchen utensils to laundry soap and wood for the fireplace. There are 3 rooms all on separate floor and each with its own peculiarity. We had the top unit but count 45 stairs to go up!!! Better not to forget anything. Sylvain the housekeeper is at your service during the whole stay. He greets you with a warm welcome and tours the property explaining everything. Should you need anything he is there to help you. The only caveat is that if you have mobility problem this property is probably not for you.The whole is way better than on the picture. In town do not miss the restaurant La Voute. The owner Guy and his wife Mercedes are simply adorable and the food exquisite and reasonably priced. Anyone we met in the village was nice to us and seemed to appreciate our business. There is a good cafe/tobacco store where they serve a super expresso or for those with a more delicate palate and creamy cappuccino. The grocery store has everything you may need and the small bakery has fresh bread and croissant daily. We went to la Bastide des Moines and truly enjoyed our buffet style meal. Contrary to comments on trip advisor we found we had good value for a fix price of 25 euros although the wine was very ordinary. Jacqueline at the restaurant le Relais will greet you with excellent family dining. The location is ideal to visit les Gorges du Verdon, St-Maxime for its boutique and restaurant, St-Tropez for its glamour, Callas for its olive oil, Draguignan, Chateau Ste-Roseline for its excellent wine and the beach of Tahiti not to be missed although on the expensive side. Finally dealing with the owner was smooth and efficient and his contract is clearly written. Once payment has been made you will receive all the infos you need to truly enjoy your stay. Thanks for keeping such a beautiful property available to us. It is truly a gem in Provence."

  • Lovely apartment, spectacular view

"(French version below) Excellent, clean, fully and tastefully equipped apartment. It has a spectacular view of the mountains, castle, town and sea, with the added benefit of use of a lovely pool and its own private roof terrace. The town is only 5 minutes walk from the gate at the end of the walkway. Mr and Mrs Barnier provide everything to make their guests stay comfortable and convenient, including a well equipped kitchen, washing and cleaning liquids, linens, pillows with covers, sheets, blankets, lots of towels, and end of stay cleaning. They gave us such a warm, friendly welcome, it was wonderful. We cannot praise them and their lovely apartment enough.
