  • Good Base for Exploring

"We stayed here - two couples - for a week in September 2014 and enjoyed our stay. The town of Apt is a good base for exploring the villages of the Provence / Luberon area including Roussillon, Gordes, Menerbes and Bonnieux and is only about an hour from the autoroutes and Avignon. The town has all the standard amenities - shopping, restaurants and markets. It is an old town so most of the streets are not suitable for vehicles. For drivers, park beside the river adjacent to the D900 or the market square to the east of town. Note the warnings for flooding during heavy rain or cars being towed for the market so that there are no surprises. The apartment is located in the center of Apt, a block away from Ste Anne's Cathedral, about five minutes away from the parking areas, and consists of the upper floors in an old building. It is quite difficult to imagine the layout from the photographs so this may help. The apartment is accessed by a narrow staircase and the main level is about fifty stairs from the street level. The main level contains the kitchen and living area, one bedroom and loft, toilet and shower / laundry room. The kitchen is well equipped with all the modern conveniences and a table and chairs for dining. The living area is small with few chairs but has TV and Wi-Fi connections. The TV sound did not work while we were there but that was not an issue for us since we were not watching any TV. The Wi-Fi connection was reliable and we used it with an Ipad for email etc. On the same level is the first bedroom with a double bed. This also is the access to a small loft with a small bed. This would be suitable for a couple with a young child. The toilet is a separate WC, and the shower and laundry facilities share the same room. On the next upper level (another dozen or so stairs) is a loft which overlooks the kitchen / living area. This has twin beds and a low beam. You will at some time (guaranteed) bang your head on the beam. On the next upper level is an enclosed rooftop loft (another ten or so steps) with a table and a few chairs and a pleasant view over the rooftops of Apt. The apartment was clean and many basic items were provided - salt and pepper, dish soap, garbage bags, laundry detergent - and stores were within walking distance. The apartment is well run and the owner is flexible and personable and available if you have any questions or need assistance. We would recommend this property to others."

  • Ideal Holiday Property

"Delightful stay. The house is lovely and the pool and garden a bonus. The Tuesday market in Gordes is a treat. We enjoyed the lavender at the Abbe de Setanque and at the museum in nearby Coustellet. Merci Emmanuel and merci Nathalie. Would definitely recommend this house to anyone."

  • "Merveilleux" in every way!

"We spent a week at this property, and it was like something out of a fantasy. The house is absolutely stunning and exactly what we hoped a Provence farmhouse would be. The photos can't do it justice; you have to see it to believe it. The interior is first class, very tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The kitchen is incredible and very well equipped; if you like to cook, you will love this kitchen. The three main bedrooms are spacious and luxurious (we didn't use the fourth, smaller bedroom). The exterior of the house is beautiful, too: a charming stone building surrounded by professionally landscaped gardens, a pool, and views of the village of Murs and the valley below. Like something out of Provence Homes & Gardens magazine (if there is such a publication)! Finally, we would be remiss is we didn't mention the lavender field directly behind the house. It was in full bloom during our visit and truly spectacular. "Merveilleux" in every way."

  • Perfect in Every Way!

"Our dream vacation with friends in Provence was to have a quiet, country setting with all the amenities we need to prepare our meals - we're all foodies - and eat either inside our outside with a huge swimming pool. Add that to the fact that we all had bedrooms with our own bathrooms (no sharing). Michel and Janine are wonderful people and we enjoyed inviting them for dinner and were delighted to be their guests as well. The home is most functional, spacious, comfortable and decorated with taste but never too much to compromise being comfortable. We were 9 adults and all had our own 'space' and room to lay out by the pool or lounge on one of the inside sofas. There are 2 huge dining tables: one inside and one outside. This is a MUST for a group that enjoys creating a cocktail spread with dinner to follow. We visited the nearby towns in Provence and we always delighted to return back and shower for dinner. This property is quite special because you are in the countryside but can easily reach groceries, fruit & veg stand, charcuterie and many wineries. We so loved our rose wine & sparkling wine referred by Michel. I have nothing negative to write and intend to visit again. A FABULOUS STAY IN PROVENCE! - Barbara (San Francisco & Naples, Italy)"

Provence Travel Tips

Reserve Provence Rentals and Explore the Local French History

While traveling throughout France, a visit to Provence is in demand to see many of the region’s breathtaking views and attractions. Enjoy the seasonal lavender fields that stretch as far as the eye can see, historical chateaus and even local abbeys found near Provence rentals.

Venture out from Provence Rentals and Enjoy the Natural Wonders

During the summer months, your Provence accommodation offers easy access to expansive lavender fields found throughout the local region. You’ll love the beautiful colors and photos that look much like a postcard. These wild lavender fields are accented by golden wheat fields seen throughout your Provence travel destinations, and serve as a gorgeous backdrop to many famous sites in the area and a highlight of your France vacation.

Choose a Provence Accommodation and Visit the Three Sisters

Senanque Abbey, Silvacane Abbey and Thoronet Abbey are known as the "three sisters of Provence," and are easily accessible from Provence rentals. These 12th-century abbeys were built to house monks of the Cistercian order. Enjoy a day away from your Provence accommodation, touring the church, dormitory and chapter house found in the abbeys. If you prefer, your Provence travel can even include a hike in the hills surrounding one of the abbeys, complete with a picnic and scenic view of surrounding lavender fields.

Include a Visit to Javon Chateau during Your Provence Travel

Built in the 16th century, the Javon Chateau served as shelter for many knights during the Renaissance period. This site, found near Provence rentals, evokes the feeling of stark royalty complemented by well-kept gardens. This Provence accommodation has been owned by the same family for the past five generations, and was recently used during the Second World War. Currently, the chateau serves as a private residence and cannot be toured, though the exterior offers beautiful photo opportunities to remember your Provence travel adventures.
