Germany takes up a large part of Central Europe and is easily accessible by air, land and sea. The harbor at Hamburg is one of the largest and busiest in the world. There is an extensive rail network in Germany that links it up with the rest of Europe. High-speed intercity trains are a convenient way of traveling longer distances. Smaller towns and villages can be reached on standard trains. Some of the rail routes, such as the one from Cologne and Dusseldorf to Frankfurt, follow the scenic route along the Rhine River. This is one of the best ways to see the countryside.

There is also an extensive road network; however, you do need to be confident in your driving ability. The high-speed autobahns and inner city congestion can be somewhat intimidating if you are not used to it. Germany has several efficient international airports. The busiest is Frankfurt International Airport. This is mostly due to its central location within Germany and Europe. Other international airports include Berlin Airport and Munich Airport. From these airports, you can get domestic connections on to other cities such as Dusseldorf, Bonn, Hamburg, and Dresden.
