  • Exceeded expectations

"Celebrating a special birthday with friends in Tuscany, 13 of us feel so fortunate to have stayed at this amazing villa. The location is perfect for day trips to almost anywhere in Tuscany (a car is a must at this location). The drive in is a little rustic, however adds to the charm of the property. We all looked forward to coming 'home' at the end of a day of sightseeing, relaxing on the terrace or by the pool and sharing the days events with friends and other guests. Or if we needed a little quiet, there are various sitting areas on the property to take in a variety of views. Hosts Simon & Verity (their children and pets) couldn't be more delightful and made our stay truly special. They are always ready to offer suggestions, recommendations or help on visiting the area. The villa is a perfect spot for a large group, or as a bed and breakfast guest. Rooms are spacious and bright. Views are outstanding, and amenities exceed expectations. A weekly meal prepared by Verity was outstanding and great fun. The cooking class with Verity was a highlight for 3 of us as she shared her Tuscan recipes and skill. Thanks Simon and Verity.....We can't wait to return!"

  • Summer in France from Canada

"Had a great time at the cottage with family (4 of us - 7 and 10 year old) in the French countryside. Very central location to explore the Loire Valley. Really enjoyed viewing each chateau from near by Azay le Rideau to Usse to Chenonceau. The Chinon wine is sneaky good - wishing we brought back more. Anne was very friendly, and the pictures shown here are true to the cottage experience. I would stay here again, as this was one of the highlights from our summer trip."

  • Armagnac

"We expected less for the bathrooms and were very pleased with 2 full baths, with toilets! Full kitchen but we did most of our eating out. Great neighborhood, Near the river Seine. The Louvre was near and many restaurants and shopping. All worked out well and we did enjoy our stay."

  • Southern Italy Adventure, "THE CLIFF HOUSE", Capo Vaticano, Calabria, Italy

"The property owner, Alessandra is an absentee owner, lives in NY, but keeps on top of things and has an excellent back-up staff near the property....We were met at pre-arranged location in front of Villa by Nino Paganini, a neighbor and the Owner's Supervisor for THE CLIFF HOUSE....He proved to be most helpful and genuinely cared about making our stay very pleasant and comfortable....The Villa is on a 20 acre compound with a total of 4 residences enclosed by fencing, shrubs and a sheer cliff....The other residences are not visible from The Cliff House...A beautiful view of the volcano Stromboli is straight ahead as you sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Sea just below you....The small, isolated beach is just beneath the back patio, just a little over 400 steps down on a private stairway, shared with the other 3 residences....We were a group of 8, 4 couples on the wrong side of 65 on a 3 week adventure.....We began in Sicily and drove, 2 rental cars, to THE CLIFF HOUSE with excellent directions provided by the owner....We were met on our arrival and given the grand tour by Nino, who answered our questions and made suggestions, in a mixture of Italian and English, but was understood....2 couples in Main Residence, 1 couple each in Pool House and Guest House...The photos of the Villa give a good representation of the property, which was very clean and well maintained for an older property....The views are spectacular!..We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and relatives.....Some of our day trips: These are a must....SCILLA, just a little south of the Villa, on the coast...TROPEA, A jewel just north on the coast....Best Gelato!.......PIZZO, north of Tropea, Birthplace of the Tartufa....SORIANO, inland. Tour St. Dominic's Cathedral and monastery ruins, built in the 1500's, damaged by the massive earthquake of 1908....Half of the adventure of this little town is getting there!....All in all, a good property that is quiet, peaceful, and breathtaking scenery.....A jewel on the coast of Calabria, THE CLIFF HOUSE"

Greece Travel Tips

Best Time of Year to Travel to Greece Vacation Rentals

Greece enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate with little regional variation. Summers are typically hot and dry, and rain occurs mostly in the cooler winter months. For at least seven months of the year, Greece enjoys a warm climate. The most pleasant months are generally May to June and September to October. July and August can get particularly hot, and you will find that most locals make use of a midday siesta to avoid the extreme heat. Many shops and restaurants close between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. which can be inconvenient if you are not aware of this. If you want to enjoy the warm climate and beaches, summertime is definitely the best time to visit Greece. If you have more of an interest in Greek culture and history then you may enjoy traveling in the off-peak season. Many of the major sites are found in and around the capital Athens which can get very crowded during the busy tourist season. It’s often more pleasant to travel around in slightly cooler weather and you can linger longer at the sites and attractions that interest you.

Traveling to Greece Villas

To get to Greece, there are number of different transport options. For travelers from North America or northern Europe, it will be most convenient to fly into Athens and from there connect on to your domestic destination. The Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport is located in Sparta which is just outside of Athens. The airport is the country’s busiest and hosts several international airlines. There are regular daily scheduled flights between Athens and most European cities. Travelers from North America and other parts of the world may need to route via London, Amsterdam or Madrid and then connect to Athens. For visitors from the eastern parts of Europe, there are good rail connections with Thessaloniki which is Greece’s main rail hub. During the summer months, there are frequent ferry connections between Greece and its neighboring countries. Many cruise ships also visit the Greek isles and this is a great way to explore the Mediterranean coast.

Depending on where you are traveling in Greece, there is a wide variety of different attractions available. If you plan to spend some time in and around Athens, you can enjoy the many ancient sites the city has to offer. One of the most famous places to visit is the Acropolis which is the site of the sacred rock. This monument dominates the Athenian skyline and can be seen from almost anywhere in the city. It also contains the ruins of the Parthenon. The Agora was once the core of ancient Athens. It was in this large open space that many commercial, political and social events took place. It was turned into a residential area in the 19th century. Although today it is mostly ruins, there are still several interesting sites worth visiting. Delphi is located approximately 100 miles northwest of Athens. It was once considered to be cultural heart of Greece and is linked to several well-known Greek legends.
