"This is a fantastic large house that you can make yourself at home in. We, a party of 8, mixed party of ages 50+, to 20+ and a teenager,we visited in March 2015. It was the perfect base to see all the sites. Most of which were in a 1 to 2 hour drive from the house, and Reykjavik was about 20 mins away. We prefer the freedom of self drive and hired a 9 seater 4WD (4WD is a must in the winter months) with sat nav and found our way around with no problem. If you are not happy to self drive, you can take organised excursions and can be picked up from the house, there is a good bus service although we never used it. There is a very good supermarket in walking distance, along with a few other shops, fishmonger, off licence, bakery, kebab grill and Dominoes pizza that will deliver.
The weather was quite atrocious on one day during our visit and we were warned to stay in doors by the owners as the winds were approx 70MPH along with snow and sleet. It was great fun being in the really warm house watching the weather beating down. We opened the bar early and played music and made our own entertainment. Then early afternoon the weather miraculously changed (apparently common for this to happen in Iceland) we wrapped up and went for a walk along the river which runs along the valley at the bottom of the house. Then back home to the hot tub and sauna and a home cooked chilli con carne. The house has everything you need to self cater, the bean to cup built in coffee machine is fab and the owners supply the beans for you. I would definitely recommend this house if you are looking for home from home type accommodation. Do not go here if you want pristine, immaculate, hotel type accommodation. This home(a home it is) is warm, clean and comfortable, with every amenity you could want, and we certainly made ourselves at home."

"I booked the house for a week long spring break trip for myself and 3 college friends. We absolutely loved the house, the location, and the owners! The first day the owner's father met us at the house and showed us around. He was very nice, and even left some bread and jam! In addition, the whole house was fully stocked with everything we needed for the week. All communication with Kristin was very easy, the whole process was very smooth.
In our week we saw water falls, a geysir, tectonic plates, glaciers, volcanoes, black sand beaches, swam in a hot springs, explored Reykjavik and much much more!
We visited March 7th-15th, so it was still a bit wintery out. But the weather didn't take away from the experience and meant there were very few crowds!
Here is a video we made of our trip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sI2z3coVXs4
I would highly recommend this house to anyone visiting Iceland!"

"I just recently returned from a 6 night stay with 5 friends. The apartment is the perfect size for a group of 5 to 6 adults. We were much more comfortable than we would have been staying in a hotel because the apartment had everything we needed including a washing machine. Location wise, you couldn't ask for more....it's within walking distance to 2 of the best restaurants in the city not to mention all of the local bars and shops. Yes, it is noisy on Thursday night - Saturday night but so is any downtown area. The locals party hard.
Burkni was extremely accommodating and let our group not only check in early after a long flight but he also let us check out late. He also gave us some great tips about local places to eat and drink and also clued us in to a site for tracking the Aurora Borealis. If I'm lucky enough to visit Iceland twice I would definitely stay here again."
