"Myself and my partner have just stayed in the Stone House for a few days and we wanted to stay a lot longer. The setting is amazing, the scenery fantastic, the beach just down the road beautiful and peaceful, the proximity for exploring the area unreal.
The house itself was pretty much perfect. The bedrooms on ground level are protected from the wild Atlantic weather perfectly (we visited in late October) and the master room opens out onto a garden full of herbs and diverse Burren plant-life.
Upstairs, the great room is stunning. At one end a beautiful raised fireplace which was perfect to warm by after a days exploring. At the other end the most amazing view; a hundred miles of sky and sea viewed through floor to ceiling windows and a balcony outside to step out onto and drink in the sea air. In the middle, a kitchen stocked with every manner of dish and utensil, everything we needed we found.
I could write a lot more, but I think anyone reading will get the gist!
Superb, we'll be back for sure"

"We spent a week of our honeymoon at Ann O'Callaghan's Gentian Cottage overlooking the Galway Bay and Aran Islands. We could have spent the entire week inside the cottage enjoying the beautiful views and reading on the cheery sun porch. But Gentian is so perfectly located close to the music of Doolin and Lisdovarna, the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, the Aran Islands, and Galway that one week is not enough. My wife especially enjoyed walking the country roads with the walking stick provided in the cottage. Ann graciously gave us a tour of the family castle next door and build us a peat fire in the cozy living room. We felt completely at home and can't wait to return."

"A group of five women (some friends, some related, aged mid-60s and mid-70s), we thoroughly enjoyed our five night stay in Heron Cottage. The cottage is spacious, perfectly clean, attractively furnished, and has a large, well-equipped kitchen. (A couple appliances could use a repairman: We couldn't get the dishwasher to work, and the big, advertised refrigerator was "down," replaced by a small, just adequate fridge. There's a washing machine but no drier.) Among the great things about the cottage are the windows: Each one, especially the many skylights, offers a different and stunning view. The location is very good for walkers. A short walk up to the ever-tempting ice cream shop takes one to a trail down to the Flaggy Shore, and the 3 K walk along the shore is beautiful and a good place to see area residents out walking dogs and babies. Another, shorter walk is to the Martello Tower. Drives to green road trail heads are fairly short, and (for after the hike!) driving to the excellent Linnane's Lobster Restaurant is easy. We somehow had the idea that a pub was only a short walk away, but we were mistaken in this, but we did well with treats from the ice cream shop. Heron Cottage is a lovely vacation spot."

"Our family of 4 (parents & 2 teen girls) loved our week stay at Bridge House before heading to Limerick for a family wedding.
By itself Bridge House & Fanore are a beautiful, scenic and storybook location! The views are incredible and the house is very charming and just as shown here. It is clean, well appointed, cozy but with plenty of room and had everything we needed. The fire place was a treat to have on one chilly rainy day. Thanks to Mike & Joan for stopping in from Stone House next door to help us get it lighted!
Fanore is a magical place. Even just staying in the house/town would be a great vacation. But we found it is an excellent location for easy day trips. This was the first country vacation for our family and we were a little worried that it would be too remote and maybe not be enough to keep our teens busy. It ended up being one of our favorite vacations. Fanore's peaceful quiet allowed us to rest & relax. Having 2 restaurants and the small market within walking distance would have been all we needed for a week. We really enjoyed walking to O'Donoghues pub (the owner Pat gave us a fresh loaf of brown bread when we met and said we were at Bridge House!). We had several great meals there and enjoyed a trad music night as well. The market had what we needed including a coffee machine that came in handy on early mornings. The walk to the beach along the old road is spectacular.
We are pretty lazy travelers but were able to cover a lot of ground. We toured/hiked the Burren, visited the farmer's market & tea rooms in Ballyvaughn, Cliffs of Moher, had dinner and shopped in Doolin a couple of time, also had dinner in Lisdoonvarna, visited the Perfumery, saw lots of area ruins, spent time in Kinvara and Galway. A must-do is pony trekking with Peter Williams of MountainView Stables near Lisdoonvarna. Peter is fab! We did a 2 hour mountain trail ride but will be back for a beach ride! Peter's place is close by and easy to find, the ponies are lovely and we really enjoyed our guide. They accommodated our beginners as well as letting the experienced in our group ride ahead for some cantering along the trails. We ran into Peter a couple of times post-ride at O'Donoghues and it was like running into an old friend. If you want to see the area on horseback - Mountain View is the place to go!
Ana the caretaker was helpful and friendly. Thanks to Mike & Joan for all of their great suggestions and hosting us for a glass of wine at Stone House!"
