This is more than just a cottage - it's enchantment!
"As we drove over the hill to Pollclabber Cottage, the full expanse of a rugged horizon spread out before us - it was as if someone had cleared away the clutter and left an unending expanse of rock, sea and sky! It was for just such a view that we had come to the west of Ireland - enchanting!
And the cottage itself echoed that feeling entirely. It is comprised of an original cottage (to the left in the photo of the house) with a sympathetic new extension. In the original, older part of the cottage (and it is over 150 years old here) the walls are over 3 foot thick so you feel very warm and cosy. The solid fuel stove means that, if it lashes wind & rain, you stay warm, snuggle up and feel safe. In fact, you'd welcome a storm at night because you feel so protected from the elements. In the new part of the cottage, to the right of the front door, there is a glazed area where you read or just look out on the surrounding rural garden. Here you feel at one with the landscape all the time - it seeps into you and refreshes you ... without you even getting your feet wet!
The gardens themselves must be mentioned because they have been lovingly created to be sympathetic to the surrounding countryside - yet they are also so pretty and refined by comparison. Using the natural stone found in the garden itself, cute little walls provide order and purpose to the whole arrangement but look as though they have been there forever. The patio at the back of the cottage looks out over Galway Bay - the view is enchanting and allows you to fill up with the peace of the whole scene. The front garden has a beautiful stream and small waterfall, both of which bubbled forth because of the recent rain but which quietened down within a few hours. This delightful scene can be viewed from the glazed sitting area mentioned above so is a real & unique feature of the cottage - you really do feel that if you looked hard enough you'd see a fairy or two, and maybe even a leprechaun!
Apart from these beautiful and unique features, Pollclabber Cottage is pristine and very well equipped. The owners also holiday here so it contains all modern conveniences - and everything works!
I would wholeheartedly recommend a stay in this cottage because it really is more than just a cottage - it’s enchantment!"

"A group of five women (some friends, some related, aged mid-60s and mid-70s), we thoroughly enjoyed our five night stay in Heron Cottage. The cottage is spacious, perfectly clean, attractively furnished, and has a large, well-equipped kitchen. (A couple appliances could use a repairman: We couldn't get the dishwasher to work, and the big, advertised refrigerator was "down," replaced by a small, just adequate fridge. There's a washing machine but no drier.) Among the great things about the cottage are the windows: Each one, especially the many skylights, offers a different and stunning view. The location is very good for walkers. A short walk up to the ever-tempting ice cream shop takes one to a trail down to the Flaggy Shore, and the 3 K walk along the shore is beautiful and a good place to see area residents out walking dogs and babies. Another, shorter walk is to the Martello Tower. Drives to green road trail heads are fairly short, and (for after the hike!) driving to the excellent Linnane's Lobster Restaurant is easy. We somehow had the idea that a pub was only a short walk away, but we were mistaken in this, but we did well with treats from the ice cream shop. Heron Cottage is a lovely vacation spot."

"Everything was so easy, booking, arriving, hospitality of Seamus and Mary, it all made for an extremely relaxing holiday despite the mixed interests of adults and children. The dogs chased swallows on the lawn, the children played on the go carts, the adults went on runs, walks, everyone had picnics, and that was just around the cottage.
We had great fun going to the Falconery and caves at Ballyvaughan, the Burren was just wonderful no matter where we went. It was just a wonderful break and absolutely perfect for a family. Five star, gold star, 10 out of 10."
