"I can't say enough about this beautiful home. The location and view are stunning. The town of Mountshannon is very friendly. We enjoyed dinner at the hotel pub on two different nights - couldn't stay away from the curry! And The Snug had the best pizza and salads we've had in a long time. It is a nice, upscale eatery. The house itself had everything we needed. Lots of room to spread out, different areas for the adults and kids, comfortable furnishings, and modern kitchen. We were constantly drawn to the back deck with the beautiful view of Lough Derg (not to mention the friendly cows, sheep and donkeys in the back!). Our hosts were amazingly helpful with everything and very easy to work with. When faced with a small issue, we got an immediate response from the owners and we were good to go. The location is a great base from which to explore the West. We did day trips to Galway, Bunratty Castle, Limerick, Cliffs of Moher, Fanore Beach, and The Burren. We also enjoyed a day in Mountshannon exploring the marina and lovely park and then hiring a boat to Holy Island. All-in-all, it was a wonderful stay thanks to helpful, friendly owners."

"The house was perfect for our family of 6. Very close to Cliffs of Moher, Alwee Cave and the Burren. Very nice fire place. Washer and dryer very helpful when staying in Ireland for more than 2 weeks. The views were great and had clear nights for star gazing. Info packet was extremely helpful for shopping, dining out and attractions."

"A group of five women (some friends, some related, aged mid-60s and mid-70s), we thoroughly enjoyed our five night stay in Heron Cottage. The cottage is spacious, perfectly clean, attractively furnished, and has a large, well-equipped kitchen. (A couple appliances could use a repairman: We couldn't get the dishwasher to work, and the big, advertised refrigerator was "down," replaced by a small, just adequate fridge. There's a washing machine but no drier.) Among the great things about the cottage are the windows: Each one, especially the many skylights, offers a different and stunning view. The location is very good for walkers. A short walk up to the ever-tempting ice cream shop takes one to a trail down to the Flaggy Shore, and the 3 K walk along the shore is beautiful and a good place to see area residents out walking dogs and babies. Another, shorter walk is to the Martello Tower. Drives to green road trail heads are fairly short, and (for after the hike!) driving to the excellent Linnane's Lobster Restaurant is easy. We somehow had the idea that a pub was only a short walk away, but we were mistaken in this, but we did well with treats from the ice cream shop. Heron Cottage is a lovely vacation spot."
