  • An absolutely spectacular peaceful experience in private luxury

"Having travelled the world with our jobs we have stayed in many places that promise but don't deliver. This wonderful piece of architect hidden amongst a magnificent 11acre garden behind high secure gates delivered everything and much more than the site boasts. Immaculately clean with 6 star finishes wherever you turn offers privacy with all the mod cons you need. On my return to Australia next week I will be recommending this as a must stay for anyone who is visiting this beautiful part of the world. The design inside and out is outstanding yet has a very homely comfortable feel a very hard balance to find. Thank-you for the excellent experience from booking to checking out. Rating from 1-10 is a 12!!!"

  • An oasis of peace and tranquility in the tree tops!!

"Our family of 2 adults and 3 teenagers have stayed twice at this wonderful property and are smitten. It is tucked away in the rolling hills north of Ballydehob village but only 6 or 7 minutes drive from there. A splendid, panoramic view of Roaring Water Bay and the West Cork countryside dominates the vista over tree tops from the floor to wall window of the lofted accommodation. This is spacious, very well laid out and equipped and so comfortable with a huge dining table to entertain at. Outside there is a beautiful natural wood to explore, ducks, geese and hens clucking and quacking around and a giant bbq/spit area with lovely views. The owners are very helpful and friendly and Albert the 2nd, their new gander, is much more benign than Albert the 1st was although his female companions are definitely territorial. To sum up this is a must stay place if you are visiting West Cork where you can relax, switch off and chill in comfortable but enchanting accommodation at tree top level and appreciate to changing view as the 4 seasons pass by the panoramic window, typically for Ireland all in the one day!!"

  • A little piece of heaven on earth!

"This is no ordinary self-catering cottage! If you need a retreat from the whirlwind of modern life, this is it. Not only is the cottage idyllic, but Patti and Chris go the extra mile to make guests feel so welcome. I would recommend Mount Kid Cottage just for Chris's deliciously nourishing food and Patti's warm welcome alone! Our four night retreat at Mount Kid cottage was perfect. We arrived after a long drive from Belfast to be welcomed with open arms by Patti, Chris and their dogs Pepper & Alice, who soon made friends with our collie. Hearty, nourishing, local food; a hot tub under the stars and a field of cows looking in the kitchen window. This place is good for the soul. This review doesn't do the place (of the people) justice - you've just got to go and experience it. Thank you Patti & Chris for your warm welcome. We will be back in Mount Kid soon I hope."

  • Outstanding Property

"This property was exactly as portrayed on the site and more. The views are breathtaking and up there with the birds. The apartment was clean, modern, tastefully and thoughtfully decorated and the position was extremely quiet and private. The only other people we saw was an odd fisherman on the rocks far below or in a boat. The location was brilliant and handy to all the sights we wished to see and visit. We did a lot of hiking around the scenic heads and cliffs and took picnic lunches on most days although there are plenty of places to get a feed. The little nearby village of Goleen had everything we needed and a very good Visitor's Centre. I would very highly recommend this property and thank the owners for sharing their little piece of Irish paradise with us."
