  • The Priory is perfection!!!

"We could not have asked for a better place to make our home base for our vacation to Ireland! We are family of 16 (ranging in age from 6 months to 73 years and everything in between) and The Priory and Killarney provided us with the vacation of a lifetime! The home is spectacular and fit all of us comfortably (we also rented the Loft for overflow sleeping), Killarney is a wonderful, family friendly town and the Priory owners and their children (and dog) could not have been nicer! Almost immediately we felt right at home! The house was immaculate and provided all of the comforts of home and then some! We enjoyed strolls into town, hikes and bike rides through Muckross House and the national park, and day tours to Dingle and the Ring of Kerry (organized by the owner of the Priory and led by his friend and his 18 passenger bus!). The breakfast that the owners made for us the first day started our vacation off on a high note, and the multi-generational soccer games on the front lawn left us with great stories to tell our friends and family back home! Thank you for sharing your amazing home and equally wonderful family with us! We will never forget our time at the Priory!"

  • Excellent home with accessible, central location

"I have been renting through VRBO for five years, averaging six stays per year. Of all my experiences, this home in reality was the closest to its description. It's exactly as it appears in the pictures and has a lot of high end touches you rarely see in Ireland. It has radiant, in-floor heating and most of the rooms have individual controls. The main setting which controls the kitchen, dining & living room is housed in a locked box on the outside of the home - so this needs to be changed by the caretaker, Mary. All of the other rooms have their own controls, so you choose your comfort. The kitchen appliances are all high end and have the manuals in a binder to assist you. I would like to note the home is accessible - it has a ramp at the entrance, two bedrooms, two baths (with roll-in showers), the kitchen & dining room all on the same floor. The rooms are gigantic and the hallways & doorways are wide. The living room (TV & fireplace), sun room and the master suite are located up three stone stairs, however. The house is also suited for families with young children - it has several board games, a toy house, blocks, etc. The stove has child lock measures for safety too. The house is also suited for groups or families with teens as the master bedroom is on the complete opposite side of the house as the two other bedrooms. And every bedroom has it's own en suite bath, so privacy is amazing. The only FYI's that should be noted are: 1) You are in Ireland on a wooded lot, so expect to see a few spiders/bugs (especially in the fall or winter as Ireland is notorious for its spiders during these seasons). 2) The microwave's timer does not work - you set it for a specific time, but it doesn't count down, it just keeps running. So don't set it and then walk away expecting the *ding.* 3) The shower temperatures are a little touchy. If you find the water isn't hot enough, I recommend shutting it off, turning the temperature knob to a hotter setting & then turn it back on. For some reason it wouldn't get hotter once it was on. 4) It is a self-catering house, and when I was there it didn't have some things you would think may be there - like black pepper & sugar. Just be prepared to look around the kitchen before you head to the store. 5) The fireplace doesn't emit a lot of heat, I think the chimney is a little too large and the heat escapes up it. So don't invest in a lot of firewood or peat logs unless you just want the ambiance. Overall: Amazing"

  • Lovely home!

"The house is much larger than the pictures appear but just as marvelous! The rooms are beautiful and the living areas are spacious and comfy. There are 2 king beds and 2 double beds. There is one large sofa to sleep on but it is in two pieces and you have to keep pushing it back together. The other sofas are loveseats. Once you get acclimated the house is perfect. The instructions for the appliances could be clearer but through trial and error we figured out which switches turned the cooker, ect. The washer works fairly well. It's small and in an outside building. There were no instructions on where to find the key but my detective husband finally found it. The skylights all open with a pole and can also have the shades pulled down so the early sun doesn't wake you. This was awesome! It could use a DVD player and some movies because the TV reception is very poor. Also I would have liked a newer coffee maker. We couldn't figure out how to use the old fashioned one. Overall I would say it's perfect for two couples and 2 extra people. Unless small children want to sleep together in the 2 extra rooms. It took us about 25 minutes to get to Carrick-on-suir. Also, there are stairs to all bedrooms so a disabled person would need to know that ahead of time."

  • Outstanding

"We had a party of 9 adults and Lisheen House was perfect. Ideally located in the Burren national park, with gourmet pub and art gallery an easy walk away, the house is beautifully furnished and ultra comfortable for all times of year. Mary and Shamus are warm and hospitable and there to help whenever needed. Lisheen is a very beautiful holiday destination."
