  • Celebration of friendship and anniversary a

"My husband and I shared this beautiful cottage overlooking Ventry Bay with friends of mine from my hometown of Alton,Il. We spent 2 glorious weeks here! You wake up to the sound of cows and sheep when you walk outside. We rented a car and took many hikes and day trips. It is close to Dingle with great shopping and restaurants. The weather was gorgeous. I got a tan! The cottage has three bedrooms, nice sized kitchen and living area.We went to Garvey's Supervalue and found a great selection of food for breakfast and snacks for our day hikes. I would highly recommend this cottage! It looks just the pictures!!"

  • Absolutely Wonderful Home!

"This rental property is an absolute gem in the Dingle peninsula! Its interesting that I had the same "concern" as the previous reviewer that the property almost looked to good to be true from the website but in reality it was absolute perfection and true to the photos and description of the home. This home was a great stepping off point for exploring the Dingle and the south of Ireland. It is a very comfortable and well appointed home and our hosts were very helpful and attentive. The care they take in preparing their home and their guests for their stay was second to none - I was impressed and I am known as someone fairly difficult to please :). I loved everything about this home and its location and it was by far the nicest VRBO rental property we have stayed in. The home is very well equipped and the hosts have thought of everything! I loved the views of the landscape and the ocean and the wonderful breeze that came through the windows - especially when lying comfortably in bed in the morning. Some of our activities included: Killarney National Park, Killarney Falconry (++ amazing activity), exploring Castlegregory, walking the trail at Loch Anascaul, driving the Dingle Peninsula, driving the Connor Pass (my kids favourite), exploring and walking along the local beach collecting shells and looking for seabirds, visiting the multiple ancient and historical sites in the area, and wonderful restaurants (our favourite for the family for Fish & Chips was Quinlan's in Killarney). All of our multi-generational family loved this vacation and this VRBO rental - it truly made our trip to Ireland (which was already fantastic) very special! Thanks to Mel and Frances for your hospitality and kindness. All the best!"

  • A Wonderful Stay

"We are a group of 4 women in our sixties visiting Ireland for the first time. I fell in love with this property when I found it on the vrbo site. I had booked properties with them previously and had nothing but great experiences. We stayed in the cottage for 6 nights and we absolutely loved it. Tim greeted us; gave us a brief tour then gave us names of restaurants and pubs where we could find traditional music. The pictures accurately represent the cottage; it was clean and well stocked with towels. Tim lit a fire for us in the fireplace as it was evening when we checked in. The stove is very efficient and heated the entire building in no time. We found the beds very comfortable; and one of us used the sleeper sofa which was comfy as well. Washrooms are large with great showers. Tim was very helpful arranging tours for us; we did not want to do the large coach tours so he contacted a taxi company .We did a tour of the Ring of Kerry which was about 8-9 hours in a very comfortable van that had room for more than our group of 4. The taxi driver was excellent ( driving skills and providing us with information and background of the area we were touring). Tim also arranged a taxi to take us to the departure point for a tour of the Gap of Dunloe. We were blessed to have a beautiful day for this. On another topic Tim suggested that we attend the White Gates pub on Monday evening to watch the set dancing. This was one of the highlights of our week in Killarney. Location was perfect for us as we like to walk. To get to the town center it could not be easier...leave the property and turn left. We would not hesitate to recommend this property to others. Great location; quiet for sleeping at night yet close to town center. The owners live on site and are very helpful with suggestions for food and activities."

Castlegregory Travel Tips

Places to Explore from Castlegregory Vacation Rentals

Castlegregory takes its name from a castle Gregory Hoare built in the 16th century on the site of the current village and offers a little slice of Irish history to any visitor staying in a Castlegregory accommodation. While the castle itself is long gone, an arched doorway from Gregory Hoare's original castle can still be seen from Tailor's Row in the village. Visitors can also check out the Old Railway, a site where a railroad connecting Tralee to Dingle was in operation from 1891 to 1939. The line is no longer in use, but the area is still renowned for the beautiful countryside. A Kerry house rental can put you right in the heart of this Irish paradise.

Enjoy the Oceans of the Emerald Coast

One activity that defines Castlegregory above all others is surfing. Castlegregory is situated at the base of a long and narrow peninsula that separates Brandon Bay from Tralee Bay and this area is famous for its surf-friendly waters. Surfing has to be on the must-do list of any tourist taking advantage of Castlegregory vacation rentals. Castlegregory draws in surfers from across the world that come to test their skill on the waters. In fact, it was the site of the world surfing championships in 2000.

Dine like the Irish

If you reserve any Castlegregory vacation rentals for your vacation, don't pass on going to an authentic Irish Pub. Ned Natterjacks, one such pub, offers an old-world Irish flavor with traditional Irish music played seven nights a week during the summer months. Visitors to Ned Natterjacks can also enjoy a menu featuring fresh seafood or sample a local Irish brew in the beer garden. Spillanes is another pub worth checking out. You usually need a reservation, but can go enjoy daily specials that include at least one meat dish and two fish dishes.
