  • Great days in a great house

"We had a wonderful week in September and felt very comfortable, the house, the great view, the sea and the seals, the silence, perfect. We were 5 adults and two children. Many thanks to Melanie for the warm and friendly welcome with flowers on the table. We made a lot of trips in this great area, but we were always happy when we returned to this cozy home. Our favorite leisure activity started in the morning watching the seals with the binoculars. We have never seen seals in their natural environment before....great. Also the beaches around the house are great and Clifden is a nice town where you get everything you need, one week moves so fast....pity! Sure we will visit "Mannin Bay Cottage" once more sometimes.....than for a longer stay at and around the house."

  • We Left Our Hearts in Ireland!

"We just finished a two week trip through Ireland and stayed at Stone House for one of those weeks. It did not take us long to realize that we should have stayed both weeks there. It was truly fabulous! Exactly as advertised and so much more! We were able to take numerous day trips out of Fanore, Cliffs of Mohr, walking trails in the Burren, pubs in Doolin, County Mayo, Bunratty and then come home to Stone House. Perfect location and the sunsets were beyond belief. Vasco's was fabulous, their goat cheese flat bread was wonderful but their berry sponge cake was to die for, and then there were the cappuccinos; and the fish 'n chips at O'Donoghue's Pub were great! But, take your appetite as the portions are huge! The house is a short walk to both and it was good to walk off the meals on the way back to the house! Very friendly and welcoming to everyone. Anna was a joy to talk with and a great help to tell us places to go and see. If you have any questions about the house or the area she will be your go to person. She just lives a couple of houses up the road. I know people write reviews and you don't know whether to believe them or not, but I have been renting from Home Away now for at least 12 years and have only been disappointed once and that was a trip to New York but it all got worked out. But this was probably the easiest rental I have done. The owners were wonderful to work with, fast, efficient and the wealth of information they shared before our trip was priceless. Their suggestions on tea houses, shopping, markets, pubs was invaluable and the house was truly wonderful. The grounds are beyond anything I've seen and the weather was spectacular. Everyone was talking about how great the weather was. The bottom line is, if you are thinking about a trip to Ireland, please put the Stone House on your list, you will not be disappointed!"

  • Picturesque and quaint

"We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay in Ballyvaughan! We fell in love with everything about this quaint, little village, including the cottage. It was the best home base and centrally located which allowed us to have incredible day trips with a comforting home to return to at the end of each day. The cottage had everything we needed...with even more than we could have imagined. We were so lucky to have spent a week in Ireland at a time where they had the best weather. Sitting in the yard, facing Galway Bay with a glass of wine, watching the sunset, the antics of gulls, swallows, terns and our small "herd" of donkeys brought a peaceful closing to each day. Each morning brought us a spectacular sunrise over the bay. We definitely would like to return and highly recommend this experience to everyone. Highly recommend An Fulacht Fia as an exceptional dining experience, a bike ride on the Aron Islands, a guided tour of the Burren's by Shane Connelly, a night of trad session at The Greene's with Sean Tyrrell, a view of the Cliff's of Moher, Aillwee Cave and the Birds of Prey.....just a few of the highlights. Take a day to drive along the Wild Atlantic Way and be prepared to stop in many charming villages and pubs as well as shops that carry authentic local wool sweaters, scarves, throws, socks and many food items. Of course, the requisite Irish Coffee and beer is a must!"

  • Amazing

"I rented the entire house for a weekend away with friends. I can't recommend the house highly enough. The place is huge. We were a group of 19, we could easily have fitted 10 more and still had plenty of room. The facilities are great. The kitchen was very well equipped. There was seating for everyone in the main dinning room. In a separate building there is a games room which has a good pool table and table tennis table. This entertained the group for hours! In the main house, there was a large bar with a fireplace. Very cosy. All the rooms were very large and had full bathrooms with spa baths. The house owner Becky was great to deal with. From the first contact to checkout she was very helpful and professional. Will all look forward to returning!"
