Pescara has several miles of beachfront promenade and sandy beaches suitable for swimming and suntanning. From there, you can take a drive up the coast and enjoy the magnificent coastal scenery.

Travelling to and Around Abruzzo

Abruzzo has its own international airport, located just outside of Pescara. Low-cost European airlines have daily scheduled flights that arrive and depart from here. As an alternative, you can route via Rome and rent a car to drive to Abruzzo. Once in the region, it is best to have your own car to get around in. There are three main roadways that connect Abruzzo with other parts of Italy. All are toll roads and information on the toll fees can be obtained from the car rental companies when you collect the car.

The rail system is not known for its reliability and bus schedules between the towns do not operate that frequently.
