"Our vacation didn't get off to the best of starts as one of our suticases was in Rome, whilst we were at Lamezia Terme. Anyway, the trouble with the baggage was soon forgotten once we arrived at the resort. We were greeted by Tom, who was very helpful, giving us a quick tour of the apartment along with some suggestions of where to go.
The apartment was very clean and as described online. We loved the spacious balcony overlooking the pool and in the distance the sea, then there was roof terrace. Here was even more space with a BBQ and dining area. We ate here a few nights during our stay.
The village of Pizzo is very nice, the people are friendly and there are plenty of restaurants and bars in the Piazza. Our favourite restaurant was 'Il Cappero Rosso', really great food and friendly service. One thing to bear in mind, the walk into Pizzo is all downhill, it takes about 10 minutes. The walk back is a different story though, we always took the Tuk-Tuk back to the apartment as this was easier with the 5 of us. Our youngest was 5 years old and the walk back was too much for him, also the case for elderly or less mobile persons. Anyway, the kids loved the Tuk-Tuk so that was never an issue. Cost is €10, which is quite expensive but you can walk it too!
Another restaurant to visit is 'Go', this is about 3km's up the hillside (turn right as you come out of the apartment). The food here is delicious and the views are breathtaking.
There are very nice beaches in Pizzo and all along the coast to Tropea. Tropea is stunning, crystal clear water where the sea temperature is also warm. Be aware though, the beach in Tropea gets very busy, especially in August. Back along the coast in the direction of Pizzo is the beach of Zambrone, you need to park by the station and walk down a steep set of steps, but trust me, the walk is worth it. This is also a very popular beach and when you get there you'll see exactly why!
We also had a day boat trip to Stombolli, we stopped at 2 islands. It was a very long day but it was an experience. Maybe a bit costly for what you get but when do you get to visit an active volcano?
All in all though we had a great vacation and would definitely recommend staying in Pizzo as location wise it is perfect and the complex is also very modern and clean. We never struggled to find a place by the pool and the neighbours (Austin & Joanne own their apartment) were also really friendly. Relaxing time had by all."
