  • Nice house with a perfect host!

"The rental process itself was easy and comfortable. We were cordially received by Peppe, the owner of the house, at the meeting point in Sorrento. The drive to the house itself and to the parking there was quite tricky, but after a while we got used to small, steep roads even with our big car :-) The house itself was very clean, well equipped and nice. Fly screens at every window protected from the mosquitos, which was especially with children very helpful. When something was not working (during our stay there was a problem with the washing machine and a broken shower head) it was immediately resolved by Peppe. From the terrace there is a wonderful view over the Golf of Naples to the Vesuvius - can't think of any better location for a great evening. From the house we could reach the center of Sorrento (the train Circumvesuviana as well as the Piazza Torquato Tasso or the ferry port) in about 20 mins walk, returning is slightly longer due to the ascending roads :-) What made a great difference to the other houses we had rent in the past, was the overwhelming hospitality of Peppe and his family. He often saved us the ascent to his house by picking us up from the centre of Sorrento or driving us downwards, he always was available for very good recommendations and advice, whether this concerned trips, beaches, restaurants, shopping etc. Everything was easy-going and relaxed. We came as strangers and left as friends, and we will definitely return to Casa Donna Titina."

  • What a Wonderful Villa!

"This has been a trip that our family has dreamed about for years. Professor Antonio is a most gracious and accommodating host. From the moment that we stepped into the villa we were awed by the beauty of the grounds and home. Each room expresses a style that is meant for comfort and reflects a warmth that invites you to stay. Antonio has taken us to many places that are not tourist attractions, that have given us a chance to interact with the Italian people. James, the gardener, has always greeted us with a smile and a helping hand. James has also been very instrumental in being our communication link to Antonio and others. We are all glad that we have had the chance to get to know him. Our family chose to have a meal prepared by Mr. Luciano. There are not enough words to describe the culinary experience of this wonderful dinner. Antonio purchased fresh ingredients from the market that were expertly prepared. From antipasto to dessert there was not one complaint from our family of 9. We would highly recommend staying at Villa Amalia and if given the chance we would come back."

  • Excellent apartment, just a few caveats.

"We stayed a week in this apartment in January 2014. Overall we were quite pleased with our choice, given the price. The unit is very modern, clean and spacious, and the outside balcony lovely. For us it was very convenient for spending time exploring historic Naples and making connections out of the train station and also at the port, to visit attractions including Pompeii, Capri, Ercolano and more. With the archeological museum just around the corner, it was easy to get taxis whenever we wanted, and there were good places to eat within walking distance. The wifi in the apartment worked very well, and I also really appreciated the large shower/bathroom with plenty of HOT WATER! Not always easy to find in Italy, and very welcome after a long day walking or after coming in from the chilly evening air. A few things I would caution or just mention to others: that 5th floor location (6th floor, actually, to us Americans) means a LOT of stairs to climb up a pretty grungy stairwell...we dreaded if we had to do it more than once a day for any reason, so if you have any mobility issues be forewarned. We were having problems with the toilet plumbing being extremely noisy, something we mentioned upon checking out, and also I couldn't get the TV to work properly. Additionally, the apartment was rather chilly in wintertime...the gas heaters in the main living room and bedroom are not meant to be kept on while sleeping. The location of the apartment is also a bit rough, and might not be for everyone...there is a large group of homeless people camped out across the street from the archeological museum nearby, a fair number of beggars, and a lot of drunk college-age kids hanging out every night at the nearby Piazza Bellini. Now, we didn't have any problems ourselves, but unless you're used to rougher city life you might find it a bit off-putting. I would stay here again, although my partner might not as he found the stairs every day a bit rough."
