Villa Oriana was lovely.
"Villa Oriana was lovely. It is worth getting up early before the sun comes over the hills to enjoy the balconies before it is too hot and see the spectacular sunrise. We enjoyed watching all the boat traffic below us and all three restaurants on the beach. The accommodations were comfortable, internet worked well in the main portions of the house. The master bed is a bit smaller than an American King. The air conditioning made sleeping comfortable. The local staff were very attentive when we had questions. As advertised, there are many stairs!"

"My husband and I and two friends stayed at Rosa Napoli for 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our host, Susan, was WONDERFUL! She was so warm and welcoming and her home was very charming and comfortable! From the very first night, Susan made us feel right at home, it was like we were staying with our favorite Italian relative. I just can't say enough about her hospitality and her amazing meals! Each morning we would slip into the provided guest robes, head downstairs and find Susan busy in the kitchen making fresh muffins, cutting up fresh fruit and pouring coffee and juice...it was a great start to each day. We did wonderful day trips each day and Susan was an excellent source of information in planning all of our activities. Her driver, Giavanna, provided us rides to/from the local train station (a 10 minute drive down the mountain vs a 45 min walk) and to Naples. She was a very sweet lady and very dependable! (We grew quite fond of her, even though she did not speak much English and we had a very limited Italian vocabulary.). Upon returning back to our home base each day, Susan would have delicious appetizers (antipasta) and local wines ready for the hungry tourists. As we noshed on local meats, olives, cheese and breads, Susan would finish the preparations for the evening dinner. We all enjoyed watching her make homemade pasta, sauces, fresh vegetables and desserts! We stuffed ourselves each night with delicious food and wine! Having stayed in a private villa before, I sure appreciated having "Chef Susan" there to do the cooking and cleaning up each morning and night.....what a treat! I would highly recommend a stay at Rosa Napoli.....you will not be disappointed!"

"Four of us (two couples) stayed for 5 nights. I had a recommendation from a friend who had stayed with Antonio last year and the villa was even better than expected. Immaculate, very tastefully decorated, modern with Miele appliances, everything high end - a beautiful home (villa) with all the personal touches. Several patio areas on different levels for lounging in the sun or reading in the shade with its own garden area - we ate some of Antonio's grapes and plums. The views are spectacular! Everything you dreamed of from your cliffside Mediterranian villa.
Do not expect to drive up to this villa. Antonio meets you at a prearranged spot on the coastal road and you then follow him and his scooter up to a small minimarket where you park briefly. From there Antonio helps you and your luggage up another level and then down 65 steps to his villa. The Amalfi coast is not a great place for cars. But it all works and Antonio is very helpful and very organized. There is a book in the villa with all the local details which he takes time to explain - restaurants, tours, the minimarket, buses and fares. etc. He also takes time to ask what your planned activities are while in Praiano and provides excellent advice one would give to a friend. If you go, listen to what he says. Once the info session is complete, you follow him back down to the minimarket and then the coastal road where he will park your car and you will take the 235 steps up to the villa. Don't let the step thing deter you - we are all 70'ish and mastered the labrynith of steps and walkways.
There are two hidden gems in renting this villa. The first is Antonio - we wish we had more time to spend with him personally. The second is Praiano. Its a smaller place in between Positano and Almalfi - less touristy and you get a better chance to fit into a neighbouhood and experience life as the locals do. All the local attractions are available to you by bus or boat but if by bus go early as they fill up with tourists going to Almalfi and Ravello."
