  • Casa Gilda in May

"We (an active couple in our early 70's) had a wonderful 6 days in Casa Gilda. Our booking was early- May 2015 and the weather was pleasantly warm during the day, a bit chilly in the evenings. We travelled by public transport so chose Sorrento for ease of access to railway, bus and ferry systems. We had days out to Naples and Capri (ferry); Amalfi Coast (bus); and Pompeii (rail). In between, Sorrento was not too busy with tourists so we were able to enjoy the usual things like shopping, site-seeing, a concert, restaurants etc. Casa Gilda is located a 15 minute walk from the centre of Sorrento in a quiet fishing village, Marina Grande. The apartment overlooks the village and harbour it is clean and well-equipped. Downstairs has a small kitchen, bathroom, table and chairs and, importantly, two settees. Upstairs is a bit cramped with a double bed and small bathroom under the sloping roof, but this constraint is more than compensated by the bedroom opening onto a small terrace overlooking the bustling fishing village, harbour and Bay of Naples. Our favourite part of the day was sundowners on the terrace watching the sun go down behind the hill; fishermen landing their catch and mending nets; tourists taking a stroll and enjoying the many restaurants along the quay. Magic and we recommend it to anyone who enjoys the simple things in life."

  • 10 wonderful days at Massa Lubrense

"We spent 10 wonderful days at this place. The house is spacious with two units of 2 rooms (4 bathrooms). There is wonderful view to the sea from the windows. Our favorite spot was the court, also overlooking the see and enjoying the breeze. It is within a short walking distance from the center of Massa Lubrense, with its coffee bars and grocery stores – as well as other facilities such as tourist information, bank, etc. The house is also ideally situated for daily excursions to the Naples area (Pompei, Herculanum) and to the Amalfi Coast (Sorrento, Amalfi, Salerno) – all within approximately one-hour drive or so. Ludovica, the owner, was extremely nice and helpful – with recommendations of places to visit, restaurants, etc. The house itself was spotlessly clean, and we found the description on the website very accurate. The only issue one should mind is the parking. The climb to the house is about 60 meters in a steep narrow alley with stone walls on both sides. We parked on the road below and climbed on foot. If coming with a rental car, automatic transmission is highly recommended."
