  • What a Wonderful Villa!

"This has been a trip that our family has dreamed about for years. Professor Antonio is a most gracious and accommodating host. From the moment that we stepped into the villa we were awed by the beauty of the grounds and home. Each room expresses a style that is meant for comfort and reflects a warmth that invites you to stay. Antonio has taken us to many places that are not tourist attractions, that have given us a chance to interact with the Italian people. James, the gardener, has always greeted us with a smile and a helping hand. James has also been very instrumental in being our communication link to Antonio and others. We are all glad that we have had the chance to get to know him. Our family chose to have a meal prepared by Mr. Luciano. There are not enough words to describe the culinary experience of this wonderful dinner. Antonio purchased fresh ingredients from the market that were expertly prepared. From antipasto to dessert there was not one complaint from our family of 9. We would highly recommend staying at Villa Amalia and if given the chance we would come back."

  • Wonderful place to stay

"For us a perfect home for our vacation and visiting the sites around Sorrento. Fantastic view, very good facilities, very nice landlord, helpful tips to make the best of your time. Enough space for the 7 of us (four adults and three teenagers). Lovely restaurant nearby. The only caveat: it is a bit challenging to drive with a van to the premises on the steep and narrow streets close to the apartment - but it is possible and of course this is southern Italy."

  • Clean and comfortable

"Apartment is located in a small residential area, which is easy to find once you know where to go (Jerry will meet you the first time) .One parking space is provided for a small car - we had a Fiat 500 and wouldn't recommend a car much bigger than this. Access to the apartment itself is easy on one level and close by. The owners Jerry and Anna were very welcoming and told us everything we needed to know - Anna presented us with a bottle of wine and a tray of local pastries, which was a lovely touch! For us, Jerry and Anna were the perfect hosts - fairly invisible but there if we needed them. The apartment has two veranda's - one faces the rear to a landscaped garden, the other provides long distance views to the bay of Sorrento and Capri. The veranda is well equipped with plastic style sunbeds and cushions and a table/chairs - different to that shown in the pictures but perfectly adequate. The sun appears on the balcony mid morning and pretty much there all day so great for sun lovers. Roll down awnings do a perfect job if you prefer shade. The apartment was spotlessly clean and well maintained - the double bed was the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on when being away - the roller shutters are great for blocking out the light in the bedroom. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to make a meal or light snacks - there are even the essentials like salt and pepper, oils and some dried herbs, tea bags etc.We didn't need it but there is no dishwasher. Wifi was great but connectivity was slow anywhere other than in the room where the router is.Some of the electricity sockets are 2 pin and some 3 pin and there aren't many sockets to choose from overall if you have a couple of phones and other electrics/gadgets to plug in and recharge. The lounge area is small but adequate and the furnishings are modern (pleasantly different to the pictures).S Agata town centre is within walking distance of the apartment - Jerry will show you a short cut through an alleyway which takes approx. 5 minutes. The town has everything that you need - a handful of good restaurants, bakery, bank, grocers, butchers, small supermarket etc. the general supermarket is very small and has a poor choice. It takes approx. 20 mins to get to Sorrento. Good restaurants in SAgata would be Mimi's - recommend you make a reservation or arrive by 7:30/8:00pm. We really liked Da Cardillo friendly and efficient service with daily specials and local wine (very reasonably priced!)"
