  • Better than anticipated!

"I was extremely pleased with our stay. I had never traveled to Europe before and was very nervous about the whole trip. I was visiting my daughter who was studying abroad for the semester and she stayed with me during the visit. The apartment was very clean and spacious for the two of us. Elisabetta was there to greet us and she was very sweet and helpful. We happened to arrive on a chilly night and after several hours the heat didn't appear to work so I emailed Elisabetta and she was so prompt in replying. She came back immediately and I realized I didn't have the heat set correctly. It worked right away after Elisabetta and Maurizio left. I would definitely recommend this home away from home. My daughter was sad to leave this apartment and to return to her own apartment in Florence. She wanted to stay. Thank you Elisabetta for your wonderful apartment!"

  • Gorgeous honeymoon destination!

"My new husband and I spent half of our honeymoon split between two of Lilia and Guido’s properties along the Italian coast. Lilia, ever the perfect host, picked us up at the Santa Margherita train station and drove us to the Portofino apartment on our first day. Every view from the train station to the apartment steps is breathtaking, and the rental is absolutely perfect. So charming, clean, beautiful. And the location! It is perched above some of the most bustling restaurants right on the piazzetta. Despite its proximity to all the excitement, the apartment is quiet and comfortable. Lilia provided us with some basic groceries upon our arrival, and there is a small grocery store a short walk away--though there is certainly no shortage of tasty restaurants to sample! Once we’d thoroughly enjoyed Portofino, we started exploring beyond the area and found ourselves back in Santa Marguerita, where we proceeded to hike daily. It’s a decent trek, maybe 4 miles, but worth the effort and also accessible by buses that depart regularly. Prices are more reasonable and there’s a ton to see. We enjoyed our time in the area so much that we would have been much more disappointed to leave had we not had Lilia’s Framura property to look forward to! Thank you again for everything, Lilia, it was a true pleasure. We can’t wait to stay with you again!"

  • Sitting on top of the World.

"We stayed in the apartment for nearly 3 weeks and every day was a pleasure. The views are truly stunning. I never got tired of sitting on the patio looking out over the Adriatic. The place was on of the best equipped we have ever stayed in and we have used Home Away quite a bit. We found a couple of very nice restaurants within a couple hundred yards from our door. Silvi Alta was one of the most charming little towns we have stayed in Italy. The piazza of the town was just below the balcony of our bedroom. We had several guests (Italian friends and family) join us for short stays. The beach and beach action is a short ride down the hill. It was great being in a quiet somewhat out of the way spot. We had so much fun with my wife's stepfather's family, that there was little time for sightseeing on our own. No matter, we were having too much fun with other activities (mostly eating and socializing). If you are looking for an out of the way spot that has the feel and texture of the real Italy, this place is for you."
