  • Idyllic retreat in the countryside

"As soon as I arrived here, I didn’t want to ever leave. This historic stone villa is everything I could have wanted in a country retreat. Curling up with a book by a roaring fire. Waking up to a view of a storybook castle. Exploring the forested paths through the rolling Umbrian hills, just steps from the house. Enjoying some of the best – and best-priced – food I’ve ever had in Italy (!), thanks to the fantastic restaurant recommendations in the villa’s lovingly detailed information guide for visitors. Don’t want to go out? Have the amazing Dori come to the villa and cook you a multi-course traditional meal. Historic hill towns, more castles than I could count, stocking up on locally pressed olive oil, sampling the local wines... Oh, and being welcomed home by the ridiculously cute house dog that made us feel like we were her favourite people on the planet. If you’re looking for a blissful retreat from the craziness of the modern world, go here. Go now."

  • Excellent Apartment and Delightful Neighbourhood

"We just spent 2 weeks in Rome in Daniela's apartment. We had a great time. The apartment is very comfortable for 2 people. The photos are accurate - but were probably done when the apartment was just renovated and painted. There is some sign of wear and tear now and perhaps it would benefit from a fresh coat of paint soon. This did not in any way detract from our experience or comfort. There is also a bit of clutter including left over bottles of various products from previous visitors. The neighbourhood is a great feature for this apartment. When you look at the neighbourhood on Google, it might not look that great. However there are a lot of hidden gems. First of all, it is very quiet. The surrounding buildings are a medical clinic, 3 or 4 religious residences, and 1 other apartment building. The only noise is occasional street noise and garbage pick up often at 1 or 2 am. There are some really outstanding restaurants all within 1-2 blocks. Club Machiavelli was our favourite. This is imaginative food made with passion! We went there 3 times. If you do go there, please tell the owner that a Canadian couple recommended it. We chatted with the owner a few times. Trattoria Vecchia Roma is very popular with locals and we really enjoyed it. Right next door to the apartment is Caronte. Excellent cocktails. In Rome many places have a sort of "happy hour" where you get a cocktail and free appetizers. At Caronte, you get little tasters of the main courses for the evening. We went there for dinner a couple of times. The menu is more eclectic and is a nice change from the standard Italian menu. Baia Chia is also right next door to the apartment. They specialize in Sardinian style and their seafood is superb. We tried a few other restaurants in other parts of Rome but never found anything nearly as good as the restaurants right in our block! We also used the Norcineria e Gastronomia Cecchini. This is a delicatessen on the corner. They have a great variety of hot and cold dishes that you can take home for a prepared dinner. There is everything you need, including wine. We really enjoyed having a gourmet meal on our patio watching the sun going down. We also enjoyed having Aperol cocktails on the patio along with some tasty cheese from the Gastronomia. For groceries, there are 2 supermarkets within a block that have everything you need. Despar at 1 Via Guicciardin and Conad just of Merulana. We highly recommend this apartment!"

  • Nice place to stay

"We visited Rome at the end of December and it was a great experience. The Elegante apartment was a very good choice for our team (two families-4 adults/ 4 children). More than spacious (the kids really loved it) and comfortable, gave us the opportunity to share time together but also enjoy our privacy. Very good location (everything in walking distance) and excellent service. Thank you!"

  • Wonderful place for large family

"We stayed at this apartment during Christmas week 2014. Our family had 15 people from 3 generations. This apartment worked incredibly well for our group. There was enough space for us all to spend time together, and also enough space for us to find peace and quiet when needed. The 4 showers enabled our large group to get out in the morning in a timely way. The two washers/dryers and two dishwashers were really helpful with a group our size. And the location really can't be beat. It's halfway between the Pantheon and Campo Di Fiori, a 2 minute walk from each. If we were forced to make one negative comment, the wifi was weak in the furthest bedroom. We would highly recommend this apartment to any large families travelling to Rome. We were able to go out together as a group during the day, and then walk around in smaller groups at night before or after dinner. There is a great capucinno /cornetto spot around the corner as well that became a morning ritual for us. Some of us in the group are runners, and this was an excellent base from which to explore the city running as well as walking. We had a magical stay and would definitely stay there again when we return to Rome."
