  • When in Rome, live as the Romans do

"We stayed at Campo dei Fiori for 8 days and loved every minute so in the spirit of the Colosseum have no hesitation providing a "thumbs up" recomendation. As has been mentioned by everyone, it's noisy but you close the shutters and doors and the world goes away. Just not sure why you would want the world to go away? The band is wonderful in the piazza, the guitarist phenomenal. The magician so bad you have to laugh, the lady making bubbles for the kids (and kids at heart) magical. The market stalls and outdoor restaurants make you wonder why you need to leave piazza. The flat is fully equipped. It has a tv, but no idea if it works, we never turned it on. Remember the live entertainment right outside the window!? It doesn't have a weigh scale and after 8 days in Rome we were very happy about that. It does have big fluffy bath sheets that you could use as a toga. Maybe a few hand towels would have been nice as well and more than 1 dish towel - but that just meant we needed to eat out rather than in. The sacrifices one makes while on vacation. The location is perfect. Every major tourist attraction from the Vatican to the coliseum, to Trestevere and the Spanish Steps are all out one of the streets leading you out of the piazza. We never took transportation anywhere other than to and from the airport. The flat is comfortable. It has both a ceiling fan in the living room and air conditioning in the bedroom. That was welcome when we were there as it was wonderfully warm days and nights. Washer and an outdoor clothes line make you feel like a local, but an indoor drying rack worked well too. Bathroom very functional with lots of shelving. The sink taps are a bit slow to turn on, but water pressure and temperature is great. Wifi worked wonderfully. We brought an electrical converter, but there is also one in the flat along with maps and books. There is a book giving information on the neighborhood, the buses, taxis, grocery stores etc, One small thing. Not sure what we could recycle and what we couldn't and then exactly where it should be put. Fiona and Nuir were wonderful to deal with before and at arrival. They even arranged transport for us to and from the airport that was fair and efficient. All around a wonderful Roman holiday, in no small part due to our fantastic accommodations."

  • Great find / Great location

"Bordering the Forum and the Monti district, and just a short 10-minute walk from the Colosseum, Enzo's apartment is in an ideal location. It's as advertised, or better, and my wife and two teenagers loved it and we had a fantastic time. We walked everywhere, even to Travestere and the Vatican, although those are serious walks. However, the Forum borders the building, and it almost seems like the building itself was a part of the Forum. There is a charming elevator, and a quaint breakfast place immediately next door. Enzo is very communicative, and makes everything abundantly clear. I felt it was a fair price. Much better and economical than Rome hotels, if you ask me. I'd stay there again. Two pieces of advice: get a private tour to the Villa Borghese, and get the ravioli at Glass Hosteria (to die for!)."

  • Location! Location! Location!

"Our honeymoon stay at Vicolo delle Vacche was perfect. The flat is three stories above a small, yet lively piazza, and just .5km from the historically lively Piazza Navona. We arrived after midnight, and Chiara's assistant Tommaso greeted us and gave a quick instructional tour of the flat, which is just beautiful. I cannot imagine a more centrally location in Rome. Cabs are just minutes away (although we only needed one to go to the train station at the end of our stay) and just about everything you want to see in Rome is within a 2 to 20 minute walk. The spiral stairway is not easy with bags, but there are lights that pop on just when you think it is getting a little too dark. If there are neighbors above or below, we never saw them. We left the windows open and loved hearing the evening revelers down in the piazza, and a quick close of the rear bedroom door tuned everything out. Not a problem at all unless maybe someone is sleeping in the living room. One tip for those coming from the airport (especially after dark) would be to ask the cab driver to take you right to the Etabli restaurant (just off the Piazza del Fico). We were dropped closer to Piazza Navona and had a tricky time finding the exact location. #19 Vicolo delle Vacche is located directly across the narrow cobblestone street from the entrance to Etabli. There are markets, coffee shops, and bars nearby. Some of our favorite meals in Rome were just minutes away on the southwest end of the Piazza Navona (Enoteca Cul de Sac - start with the ravioli!) and gelato (Frigidarium). Neither were very pricey. My only regret is that I am not there right now. Chiara's place is a perfect memory for us."
