Recent Rome reviews

  • 3 days with family of Six

"We stayed in late August 2014. Overall a very satisfying stay. We were met my Hazel, who gave us a good briefing. Three blocks to the subway and two blocks to the city bus. The #40 express bus took use from the apartment to the Vatican in 15min, and the Subway had us at the Coliseum in 10 minutes. Overall an excellent location. The apartment itself was as advertised. We had plenty of room for two adults and 4 kids, with two fold out couches and two twin beds. The hot water is a bit limited for six persons, so quick showers are required if everyone wants warm water. Only other minor issue was spotty WiFi. I would recommend this property to anyone coming to Rome."

  • Fantastic accommodations!

"What a great base for exploring Rome! The location of these apartments is unsurpassed. We walked everywhere from there, ranging from the Colosseum to the Spanish Steps to the Vatican and had the Campo de Fiori right outside our doorsteps. We were two families sharing the two apartments (each with 2 kids aged 11-13), which worked very well, as they shared a main entryway from the second-floor landing. If renting only one of the two apartments, you will be able to securely lock up your own place right inside this door. The front door on street level is locked as is the interior gate at ground level, so the place felt very safe. It was meticulously cleaned before our arrival and the kitchenette was perfectly adequate for preparing breakfast, sandwiches or cooking a simple pot of pasta. The beds were all comfortable. The apartments are fairly small, but not cramped. There is adequate space for your luggage and to sit around in for short breaks from the hustle and bustle of the city. The windows are double-glazed and have interior shutters to block out the heat and noise at night. For such a central location, nighttime noise was not a problem. The air conditioning worked very well as did the wifi. Silvio was extremely kind and welcoming to us and we couldn't have asked for a better landlord. He was even helpful in securing a Saturday night dinner reservation for us. In short, we would definitely stay there again and highly, highly recommend it to anyone visiting Rome. Great price for a marvellous place!"

"Perfect and absolutely beautiful. The driver picked us up at airport and the drive in was great. The apartment is located in the best location possible. Michela was at the apartment to greet us and absolutely charming. Everything in the apartment was great. Waking up in the morning to the sound of all the birds outside our open shutter windows on the 2nd floor was my favorite moment of our stay in Rome. I can't think of anything we didn't like about the apartment, the location and our stay. Only wish we could have stayed longer. But we will definitely return and Anna's apartment will be our first choice! Thank you Anna & Michela so much! (Michela, be safe on your beautiful pink bicycle!) Best regards, Gloria & Steve Vancouver"

  • Perfect stay in Rome

"After 3 weeks of staying in various rental apartments and homes around Italy, I can confirm that Luca's apartment is one of the true 'gems'. The location is perfect. The apartment is on a convivial square, but it's on the 3rd floor, so you can either choose to welcome the street sounds (windows open) or block them out (windows closed). Additionally, the bedroom is on the back side of the building, facing a quiet and beautiful courtyard, which can only be seen and not accessed from the apartment. We found the best sleep of our trip on this bed and in this bedroom. The importance and the quality of the apartment's location within the city cannot be overstated. We were within a 10-minute walk of the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and Campo de Fiori (right around the corner). The Forum and the Coliseum were only a bit further away. The immediate neighborhood (Campo de Fiori) was the best we found in the city for eating and walking. Luca treated us as guests in his home, and the furnishings and the fixtures of the house reflect care and attention to detail. Everything was of high quality, but the bed (as noted) was especially nice. Note that the kitchen and the bathroom were formerly one room and have now been split into two, so they were a bit narrow, including the galley-style kitchen (as you can see from the photo). The shower was small but very manageable even for a tall person (I'm 6'5"), and we didn’t have any problems with the freshness of the air in the bathroom. There is a small window in the shower that opens into the courtyard that allowed for great air-flow and drying of towels, etc. Note that the living room is large and could accommodate a second couple, but that approach would make for a tight fit in the apartment. The sofa-bed, if used, would be most suitable for 1 or 2 kids rather than for an adult couple. Based on its location, I would recommend staying here even if the actual accommodations were a bit less desirable, but the quality of the apartment makes this place a real find. If you're planning to come to Rome, do yourself a favor and book Luca's place."

Monte Verde Travel Tips

Monte Verde Villas: Comfortable Living Space in a Crowded Metropolis

Rome, Italy is a place you can go to explore the world's history. From the Coliseum to Vatican City, there are sights to see that represent the beginning of civilization and, in some ways, technology, as we know it today. The Coliseum is an arena that hosted many fights and was even filled with water to simulate sea battles. Outside other historical attractions such as the Pantheon, various museums, and majestic fountains, Rome is a huge city. If you are staying at Monte Verde villas, the whole group or family can be free from congestion and breathe peacefully in their own space.

Enjoy a Comfort With Technology and Food

International travel can be tiring, and expensive, but do it right, and you can save a lot and recharge your batteries with the comfort Monte Verde apartments afford. It's like living in antiquity, but you can also enjoy the modern metropolitan vices that Rome offers. Take a guided tour of the city on a Segway, and as you're taking it all in and you should get hungry, there are many cafés and restaurants to satisfy your appetite. Don't miss the excellent house wines offered by most restaurants, and the pizza and seafood found in many cafés not far from Rome vacation rentals.

Getting in and Around Rome

Planning your tours of Rome from Monte Verde villas is important, that is why it is good to have a map. Many popular destinations are within an area bounded by the Spanish Steps, Aventine Hill, and Piazza Navona, but you can also spend the day at the Vatican, and don't miss Castel Sant'Angelo. There are subways here too, so you have various options of getting around. Then again, it's up to you to head back to the Monte Verde apartments and entertain a party there if so desired.
