"Three days and nights in Rome is a unique experience. It is mostly walkable and, of course, alive at every corner with the energy of a world class city and the historical intrigue captured in its architecture and art.
We would return to La Giulia in a nano second. For the two of us it was an ideal place, both the apartment itself and the location. Our host was prompt and gracious while extending herself to help with issues we raised about transportation etc. The apartment has a certain charm and the neighborhood context is exactly what we like.
Campo di Fiori is the square literally two minutes from La Giulia apartment. It has many restaurants, a daily market and wine bars and more. Our first night we ate at Osteria Da Fortunata just off the square. It is just south of Piazza Navona, near the Pantheon, a terrific spot and neighborhood.
Our itinerary included the usual suspects: Vatican, Colosseum, Pantheon, Spanish Steps and the Borghese. We took too long, walking to the Borghese. It's a stretch and can be confusing to get to, at least for us. Taking public transportation would have resolved it for us.
We must have asked directions dozens of times and received nothing but willingness to help us even when the language was clearly an obstacle. One woman walked us a few blocks to show us where to get the right bus back to the Termini.
Her directions not only saved us time in getting to the Termini as we were leaving Roma to catch a train to Firenza, but money as well. On arriving from the airport to the Termini on our first day, we took a taxi from Termini to La Giulia. An 18 euro quote from the driver ended up being 30. I'm not positive but I think he shilled me by saying I gave him a ten, when I gave him a 50---fair warning even if I'm mistaken.
Thanks to Italy Perfect we got to stay at La Giulia. Your overall direction and ready assistance gives us every reason to recommend you. Even your 'directive' to just enjoy the time (rather than split hairs) was helpful. OK then, Ciao."

"This apartment was spacious and an excellent value. We stayed five nights and would recommend it. The location is right across the street from the Colosseum with an excellent view of the Colosseum from the master bedroom, dining room and living/3rd bedroom. It's a half-block from the Metro, an easy walk to groceries. The furnishings are nice and traditional for those that went to Rome to see history rather than modern. It slept 4 comfortably and could have slept more. There are no buildings opposite it, so it is fairly private. The kitchen was small but allowed us to avoid eating out for breakfasts and most dinners. Having it as a home base made Rome feel manageable. You could hear the nightclub below the master bedroom, but it didn't prevent anyone from sleeping. The WiFi worked well, and the laundry was helpful."

"We have just returned from a ten day visit to Roma, our first overseas trip ever. The apartment was such a boon to us. The central location was outstanding, the building has character and is well kept up. The location of the apartment, near the Vatican, the metro and good shopping and dining, was just as advertised and took a lot of stress away for us first time "do it yourself" travelers.
The apartment is as advertised. Yes, there are a lot of stairs, but you only go up and down them twice a day and the way you eat in Italy they will help keep you from gaining weight. The washing machine and kitchen were so nice to have. The bed is firm and comfortable, and my son, who is 6 foot 2 inches, was able to sleep well on the pull out sofa. The WiFi works very well, and the area and building are safe and secure.
We found that, while it was nice to eat out a few times, most days it was less stressful to make our way home and cook a leisurely meal. Carolyn and Gerry are just great. We enjoyed getting to know them via email. They provided truly excellent info on the area and on getting by in Roma. We found the experience of living in the apartment instead of in a hotel to be priceless. We went everywhere on foot and by metro and train, and we learned far more about the people that we would have if we had been confined to a packaged tour."
