  • Oasis of Calm

"I have just returned from a 10 day stay in Ilaria House with my 18 year old grandson for whom the trip to Rome was a graduation gift. After long, very hot days out seeing sights, the apartment was indeed an 'oasis of calm,' and with the two well-functioning air conditioners, coolness. The whole flat is very well taken care of; everything is clean and in order. The bed was wonderfully comfortable, with lovely linens and plenty of towels for bathroom use. My grandson was comfortable on the pull-out sofa in the living room. Showering was a delight what with the excellent water pressure and fine bathroom facilities. Carmela is an excellent host. She and her family immediately respond to any requests or questions and arranged for rides from train station and to the airport, as others have noted. The neighborhood is perfect - a quiet street just around the corner from restaurants, cafes, an open market, and a great gelato place. It's a 10 minute walk to the Tevere, and from there, all the sights of Rome. As I think about coming to an unknown apartment and the things that might not work - unresponsive host, poor water, noisy street, remote neighborhood - I feel tremendously lucky to have been Carmela's guest in her very fine property."

  • Cool, calm and stylish apartment in a great location.

"Great place to stay in Rome. A quiet location but just a few minutes walk from the wonderful cobbled streets and cafes/restaurants of Trastevere and the peaceful Botanic Gardens. We walked everywhere, from the Colosseum and Palatine Hill to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. It's all easily within walking distance. The apartment is fabulous for a family of 4, like us. It's well equipped and stylish. The fans were very welcome during the warm July nights. We all enjoyed our stay and would stay here again next time we're in Rome!"

  • wonderful apartment

"My husband and I loved this apartment. We loved the TV, internet and sound system. It is a young hip place and we would come back and recommend it to our friends. We wish we could have met the owners because I think they would have been more attentive to showing us the details. For example, we couldn't find extra blankets, and I like to have a heavy blanket on when I sleep. But I must say that is the only complaint. The location was great. I wish we could have stayed longer."

  • Good Value and Location for the Price

"Located in an older yet charming neighborhood just across the river from all the historic sites and just a 10 minute walk from the Vatican. This is a great location if you like to walk to explore city sights; taxis and local busses are also available just two blocks away. Although the bathroom and bedroom are small (typical in most of Europe), overall the apartment was perfect for two. The listing and photos were accurate, WiFi worked and was free, and the apartment was clean and quiet. The owner was VERY nice and helped us find a local supermarket, ATM, great restaurants, etc. He also had good suggestions about what was open and what wasn't as we were there for a week over Christmas."

Trastevere Travel Tips

Discover Rome with Trastevere Vacation Rentals

Rich in culture, Roman nightlife, restaurants and clubs, Trastevere is a wonderful section of Rome; you'll love exploring this area from your choice of numerous Trastevere vacation rentals and Rome apartments. When in Trastevere, you'll find yourself immersed in rich cultural heritage and surroundings. The streets of Trastevere are narrow, winding and cobbled and could lead you on an unexpected adventure.

Beautiful and Ornate Churches near Your Trastevere Accommodation

One of the oldest churches in the city is Santa Maria; the interior is a mismatched collection of pieces of ancient Roman buildings. Some say that this church has some of the finest mosaics in Rome. Also ornate and beautiful is the Church of Santa Cecilia; but bring your Italian dictionary because all the informational plaques are written in Italian. Another famous church is San Pietro in Motorio commissioned by Isabella and Ferdinand of Spain and signifies the spot where St. Peter was crucified.

Take a day trip from your Trastevere accommodation to the Isola Tiberina, which is an island in the middle of the Tiber River. This island features Fatebenefratelli, a major hospital as well as a small synagogue. During the Second World War, this tiny synagogue was used when Rome's main synagogue was closed.

World Famous Rome Shopping

If shopping is your adventure, make sure to visit Viale de Trastevere. Located close to Rome apartments, you can find vendor stands selling everything from fresh fruit and flowers to clothing and accessories. And Porta Portese is a huge Italian flea market that is not to be missed.

Your Trastevere vacation rental will include many amenities including multiple bedrooms and kitchens where you can prepare a wonderful meal. But when you're ready to taste the local cuisine, Trastevere is considered one of the best area's in Rome for great Italian food at great prices. Local favorites include Augusto and Glass Hostaria.
