  • Great time in Trastevere

"We had a great time in Trastevere. The apartment was in a great location with plenty of nightlife, restaurants and walking distance to the Vatican."

  • Great location for 4

"My wife, my parents and I stayed here for 4 nights during the first week of June. Emanuele and Sara were very responsive with booking and throughout the duration of our stay. We used the driver service from and to the Airport which was extremely convenient for the four of us. Driver was also helpful with our luggage. Sara was present on arrival of the apartment and helped us bring some of our luggage up the stairs (note: if you have difficulty with going up and down stairs, this might not be the place for you). Photos are accurate, space was clean and was just right for the 4 of us. Currently some renovations going on in the building but nothing really bothered us since we were up early and out for most of the day. Location is great and within walking distance from metro. Provided with great recommendations from the owners in their manual. Would definitely recommend going to the restaurants they list as you can easily get caught in a tourist trap around the area. Would definitely recommend!"

  • Best location, Experience in Rome

"One of the few places I have ever stayed where the pictures match what you'll get. Some hotels or rentals really make a place look nicer than it ends up being, and if anything, this is the opposite. The apartment is in a GREAT location for walking around Rome, within 5 minutes of Piazza Navona, about 20 to the Vatican, and 20 or so to the Colosseum area. My wife and I spent a week here, and we also loved that with the central location, it was easy to "drop stuff off" when we made purchases or had anything toted along. And of course, the apartment is just a block off of the famous Campo de Fiori square, where you can find the best daily open-air market around - great for morning coffee and fruits especially. Also, some great restaurants just a block from "home" makes for convenient evenings after a day of sight-seeing (try the Obika mozzarella bar in the afternoons and evenings right on the square). But, being just a block off the square doesn't mean noise. We were very surprised at how quiet this apartment was (most places in Rome don't have double-pane windows and so there's no sound filter). The private square this apartment is located in is quiet and has friendly residents, but this apartment's windows are to the internal side - great for the weary traveler to get some shut-eye - even around holidays. Further, the manager and his staff were extremely helpful and easygoing, and include a book in the apartment of all the things you didn't think of before you arrived - like the nearest supermarket, restaurant recommendations, WiFi passwords and more. A true treat, and we will be back again for our next stay in Rome. many thanks to Emanuele and Sara for the great stay!"

Rome Travel Tips

Rome Holiday Rentals by Owner

What could be better than a Rome vacation? A Rome short term rental apartment or Rome villa rental will allow you to stay near the attractions that matter most to you, whether you want to stay near the Colosseum or the Vatican. Perhaps you want a Rome vacation rental within walking distance of the best selection of restaurants and shops. Planning ahead will help make your Rome vacation dream a reality in a city that offers so much, from history, art, architecture, and attractions to world-famous culture and a taste of the Italian lifestyle.

Transportation around Rome

Study public transportation options in advance - driving in the city during your Rome holiday is not recommended as traffic is extremely heavy and unpredictable. From Rome’s airport, known as Fiumicino (19 miles or about 45 minutes from the center of Rome), train service can transport you to Station Termini near the center of town, from which the city’s metro (subway) and bus systems connect to Rome hotels and Rome rental apartments. If you prefer the direct route, arrange for taxi transportation before you arrive in order to secure the best rates. Public transportation from Rome vacation rentals is inexpensive, but learn the system because travelers without proper tickets can incur steep fines for violations.

Things to Do in Rome

This rich city can be overwhelming. Don’t allow a Rome vacation to become a list of “to-dos” that must be checked off, but take time to savor the sights. Plan for excursions to the places you really want to see as you also linger over Italian food, stroll, people-watch, and, like a true Roman, take an afternoon nap. Arrange to stay in a Rome self-catering vacation rental within walking distance of your list of must-see attractions. Take advantage of tourist passes that allow unlimited rides on city transportation. Travel guides will explain the options and help you plan ahead for transportation around your Rome apartment rental and to outlying destinations in Italy. A Rome villa rental on the city’s outskirts can provide more room, scenery and serenity but will likely require a rental car. Your Rome vacation rental host can be a great source of information for getting around in and enjoying the city.

The weather in Rome, Italy is at its best in spring and fall, but tourist season runs from Easter to October, and Rome vacations are popular. A fall or winter Rome holiday trip will allow you to explore without the long waits to get into popular attractions. August is hot, and many locals will leave the city for their own European holidays, closing restaurants and shops for the month. If you plan a summer Rome vacation, try to see the city in the morning and evening, and avoid the heat and crowds of midday. Once you decide on the best time of year and Rome accommodations to suit your dream Rome vacation, enjoy an amazing Rome, Italy holiday taking in its culture, history and beauty.
