  • Great little apartment, awesome location!

"The apartment was exactly as advertised. It is a few flights of stairs to get there, but totally worth it. We were traveling with 4 adults and 4 teen-aged children. Sleeping arrangements were just a little tight (we wound up with one kid on the couch), but totally workable. Both bathrooms worked just fine. The little porch off the back was awesome for unwinding with wine and cheese after a night on the town. Air conditioning was very welcome and worked great. But, the absolute key to this place is the location. All the major sites are a short to reasonable walk from the apartment. Pantheon, Vatican, Circus Maximus, Colosseum, Spanish Steps, and on and on. Trevi Fountain is also an easy walk, but was closed for repairs during our visit. The neighborhood around Piazza Novona is fantastic! Restaurants and bars lining the streets for many blocks in all directions. And the piazza itself is tremendous. Music, painters, fountains, great people watching, restaurants, etc. And Campo de Fiori is right around the corner. Fiora made arrangements for transportation from airport and to train station for us. Stefano, who met us at the airport, was great. Overall, a solid apartment, and fantastic location."

  • Excellent Home away from Home

"Our family (2 adults with 3 teenagers) stayed for 8 days. The location was exceptional-you can see the Vatican Museums from your windows. The apartment was great- it had all the necessities of home and was very cozy. We were warmly welcomed to Rome by Carla and her driver Mossimo- 2 great people that were very helpful and friendly. If we return to Rome, we will definitely be calling this apartment our HOME! Thank you Carla for your warm hospitality-Ciao"

  • Great Apartment, Excellent Location

"Loved the apartment and it's convenient location in the Monti district. All the major tourist sites are within easy walking distance. The apartment was clean and well equipped. This apartment is on the forth floor and may not be suitable for some since there is no elevator. My only suggestion for improvement would be to provide two lounge chairs for the rooftop patio which is a very large and pleasant space to spend your mornings and early evenings."

  • Perfect Penthouse!

"This clean and updated apartment was a perfect spot to see tourist attractions in Rome-close to the Metro and walking distance from many sites. The layout is a bit quirky (because a renovation of an older style) but very comfortable. It is on a quiet street so you feel as if you are temporarily a resident, not a tourist. Chiara is lovely; she will give you tips on good restaurants in the area. We loved it!"

Rome Travel Tips

Rome Holiday Rentals by Owner

What could be better than a Rome vacation? A Rome short term rental apartment or Rome villa rental will allow you to stay near the attractions that matter most to you, whether you want to stay near the Colosseum or the Vatican. Perhaps you want a Rome vacation rental within walking distance of the best selection of restaurants and shops. Planning ahead will help make your Rome vacation dream a reality in a city that offers so much, from history, art, architecture, and attractions to world-famous culture and a taste of the Italian lifestyle.

Transportation around Rome

Study public transportation options in advance - driving in the city during your Rome holiday is not recommended as traffic is extremely heavy and unpredictable. From Rome’s airport, known as Fiumicino (19 miles or about 45 minutes from the center of Rome), train service can transport you to Station Termini near the center of town, from which the city’s metro (subway) and bus systems connect to Rome hotels and Rome rental apartments. If you prefer the direct route, arrange for taxi transportation before you arrive in order to secure the best rates. Public transportation from Rome vacation rentals is inexpensive, but learn the system because travelers without proper tickets can incur steep fines for violations.

Things to Do in Rome

This rich city can be overwhelming. Don’t allow a Rome vacation to become a list of “to-dos” that must be checked off, but take time to savor the sights. Plan for excursions to the places you really want to see as you also linger over Italian food, stroll, people-watch, and, like a true Roman, take an afternoon nap. Arrange to stay in a Rome self-catering vacation rental within walking distance of your list of must-see attractions. Take advantage of tourist passes that allow unlimited rides on city transportation. Travel guides will explain the options and help you plan ahead for transportation around your Rome apartment rental and to outlying destinations in Italy. A Rome villa rental on the city’s outskirts can provide more room, scenery and serenity but will likely require a rental car. Your Rome vacation rental host can be a great source of information for getting around in and enjoying the city.

The weather in Rome, Italy is at its best in spring and fall, but tourist season runs from Easter to October, and Rome vacations are popular. A fall or winter Rome holiday trip will allow you to explore without the long waits to get into popular attractions. August is hot, and many locals will leave the city for their own European holidays, closing restaurants and shops for the month. If you plan a summer Rome vacation, try to see the city in the morning and evening, and avoid the heat and crowds of midday. Once you decide on the best time of year and Rome accommodations to suit your dream Rome vacation, enjoy an amazing Rome, Italy holiday taking in its culture, history and beauty.
