  • Excellent location, great staff, spotless apartment- the best!

"Deciding to stay at the Green Apartments was probably the best decision I made when planning our Italy trip. We stayed in apartment 4, which is a one bedroom and has a little peak of the Coliseum. The apartment was spotless, spacious, had invaluable air-conditioning (since there was a heat wave while we were there), had everything you need to cook a meal and is also super quiet. The apartments are in a great location, about 7 minutes walk from the Coliseum and Forum and about a 15 minute walk from the “Wedding Cake” and other sights of Rome. You could easily walk everywhere but the metro and bus are close by and easy to use. Andrea is great! He is easy to communicate with and will answer all of you questions promptly. He was waiting outside for us when we arrived and gave us a great map and the best tips! (Do follow his advice and go to Luzzi’s and Panelle. Also on Via Merulana there is a little shop, Pasta All’ Uovo and they have the friendliest staff there to help you with cheeses, olive oils, cured meats, etc). Maria, the woman who keeps things tidy, is SO nice and even kept us informed about things like transportation strikes (which Italy has a lot of, fyi). I have been telling everyone I know and now I’m telling you-- look no further and book your stay at the Green Apartments! Thank you Andrea and Maria!"

  • Perfect

"Spent a whole month in the apt. and loved every day of it. The terrace is lovely, with great views, quiet and charming, perfect for having friends over. Location is also perfect with all the conveniences of the center of Rome, but quiet enough so neither us nor our kids had trouble sleeping. Not large but very comfortable for 4 people, great to have the two baths, the elevator, working A/C and maid services. Will be back!"

  • Rome apartment near Vatican

"Our stay in Rome for 5 days was absolutely perfect. When we arrived at the apartment we were greeted by the owner with a big smile on his face. He escorted us up the elevator and made sure that we knew all the tricks about the apartment. Our apartment was perfect for us and the kitchen was well stocked with all the essentials. The apartment was in ideal condition with fresh towels and linens on the bed. Mauro was always available to help us navigate Rome and the Metro. He even took us out to a wonderful Italian restaurant in the Jewish Quarter. Once we learned to navigate the Metro we had no trouble getting around Rome. The apartment is close to the Vatican but the major sites are just a subway ride away. We would recommend this apartment."

"This is a lovely and spacious apartment in a fantastic location: a 16th-century building right next door to Trajan's Forum and 5 minutes walk from the Colosseum. My 4-person family felt like we were at home there for our week's stay. We had everything we needed for our comfort plus a great extra bonus: hundreds of books, mostly in Italian but some in English, including Rome guidebooks. WIFI worked consistently throughout the apartment. Enzo was extremely helpful throughout the booking process. I would highly recommend this listing. Two notes: (1) only the bedrooms have air conditioners; there's a fan in the main living area. (2) we were told on arrival that we were not to use the washer/dryer."

Latium (Lazio) Travel Tips

Stay in Style at Lazio, Italy Vacation Rentals

The region of Lazio, also known as Latium, is about halfway down the western side of the “boot” of Italy and includes the capital city of Rome. Inhabited long before the Romans arrived, the area has a long and fascinating history. It was part of the Papal States governed by the Vatican until the 1860s and not a particularly wealthy area at that time. Now a key area for the production of wine, agriculture, manufacturing and textiles, the area is currently flourishing. The city of Rome is at the heart of the region, with all its historic sights and attractions.

Lazio, Italy Vacation Rentals are Perfect for Family Vacations

Renting a vacation rental in the Lazio region is the best way to experience the unique culture of this charming area. From your own home-away-from-home base, you can explore the area at your own pace; go shopping at the local market and dine in the trattorias. A vacation villa makes the perfect base to return to at the end of a busy day sightseeing in Rome. You can be assured of a comfortable bed and a homely living area for relaxing each evening. Vacation villas are spacious and well-equipped to a high standard, despite their sometimes historic exterior. Outdoor living is part of the pleasure of staying in Lazio. Most vacation villas have paved terraces and gardens from which to enjoy views of the surrounding area.

Things to do in Rome from Lazio, Italy Accommodations

Lazio is well known for its arts, history, architecture, churches, archaeology and cultural inheritance. The eternal city of Rome has something for everyone including the Vatican City with St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel and the extensive Vatican Museums. The sights of the ancient city include the Forum, Palatine Hill, the Coliseum and Nero’s Palace. The Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and the many churches are delightful places to wander around and discover for yourself. Designer shopping and small boutiques line the streets along with many cafés and restaurants. Those who appreciate fine art and architecture will be overwhelmed by all this city has to offer.

Traveling Around Lazio, Italy Villas

The main airport is Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) International Airport which is approximately 30 km (20 miles) southwest of Rome. Ciampino Airport is smaller and closer to the city center, just 15 km (10 miles) southeast of the city. It is popular with discount airlines such as Ryan Air which offers flights to many major European cities.

Places to Visit From Lazio

The area of Ostia Antica is an ancient city about 20 minutes from Rome. Here you can see the amphitheater, public buildings, cafés, firemen’s barracks and the local synagogue. Ostia Antica is a great alternative to the busier city of Pompeii.

A 90-minute drive into the mountains will reward visitors with snow-capped mountains and beautiful vistas. The area is home to more than a dozen 13th-century monasteries, attributed to St. Francis. Day trips to the lakes at Bracciano, Bosena and Nemi are perfect antidotes to the crowds of Rome. South of Lazio, there are a number of beautiful beaches along the coast offering wide sandy beaches and safe swimming.

Lazio’s Climate and Weather

Lazio enjoys a perfect Mediterranean maritime climate. It benefits from the fresh sea breezes during the hot summer months; the winter months are mild and sunny. The mountains are the perfect escape from the heat during July and August. However, a visit to Rome can be enjoyed at any time of year as there is so much to see and do indoors.
