  • Lovely

"We were completely happy with our stay at Archetto. Often, one has a slightly disappointed feeling when you finally get to see the place you have seen photos of on line - Not so with this apartment! It was exactly as pictured and frankly, even more charming in person. Everything is in great condition and the decor is just lovely. Thoughtful photos of Rome on the walls, several guide books, and spacious rooms with comfortable furniture. We were greatful for the washing machine and the kitchen facilities. The area is terrific - so close to the Pantheon. The only disappointing (which has nothing to do with the apartment) thing is that the Trevi Fountain is being repaired and will be without water and under construction for the next 12 months. We found many, many great restuaurants over near the Piazza Navona, not on the Piazza proper, but off the beaten track a bit. We used the car service of Stephano - Marco actually picked us up and was beyond kind. Our son had a bloody nose and he reclined the seat for him, gave us all water, including a frozen bottle to help with the bloody nose. He called our greater who was there the moment we arrived at the apartment to show us everything. This place has it all, location, decor, lovely building which is very quiet and well kept, and the balcony. One can feel a bit like a local for at least a few days."

  • Wonderful

"We had wonderful holidays! Es waren wunderbare entspannende Tage bei Hans und Elisa, wir hatten allen Komfort und dennoch unsere Abgeschiedenheit und Ruhe, die wir brauchten! Vielen Dank dafür! Die Bilder von der Natur und von oben auf den See sind noch in unseren Köpfen und erleichtern den Alltag in Deutschland!"

  • The apartment was above and beyond my expectations.

"On this trip to Italy I was determined to stay in apartments or houses so I could live like an Italian for two weeks. I did just that!!! Because I am also in the travel business, I was on a quest for my clients who have a passion for Italy and also want to live like an Italian while visiting. I made great choices in the cities where we stayed but the apartment in Rome was above and beyond my expectations. We were met by a charming and very knowledgeable greeter that showed us around the apartment. She pointed us to restaurants and gave us a little history of the area. We were told to call her if need be. We did not need to! The apartment was situated in a lovely and safe area close to everything we wanted to do or see. It was modern super clean and had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. The only time we took a taxi was to go to the Vatican as it was raining. We were picked up by Rocco (again suggested by Italy Perfect) for our return flight to the U.S. He was prompt, competent and safely got us to the airport. Italy Perfect has apartments throughout Italy and next time I will try one in each of the cities. I highly recommend this property and this company."

  • Great spot!

"It's a nice apartment in Rome. Mary is amazing. She is attentive, helpful and makes you feel very welcome in Rome. The apartment is conveniently located just a minute walk from a metro station and if you like walking and have time you can walk to pretty much any major places in Rome from the apartment. We had our meals on the outside patio which is a big bonus to have. The apartment is specious and equipped with all necessities. I stayed there with my sister and brother-in-law and everything went rather smoothly for us. The only inconvenience was the location of the bathroom, it's in the main bedroom and doesn't have a separate entrance but it did not spoil our stay at all. I want to thank Mary for the oportunity to stay at her place and have a good time in Rome."

Latium (Lazio) Travel Tips

Stay in Style at Lazio, Italy Vacation Rentals

The region of Lazio, also known as Latium, is about halfway down the western side of the “boot” of Italy and includes the capital city of Rome. Inhabited long before the Romans arrived, the area has a long and fascinating history. It was part of the Papal States governed by the Vatican until the 1860s and not a particularly wealthy area at that time. Now a key area for the production of wine, agriculture, manufacturing and textiles, the area is currently flourishing. The city of Rome is at the heart of the region, with all its historic sights and attractions.

Lazio, Italy Vacation Rentals are Perfect for Family Vacations

Renting a vacation rental in the Lazio region is the best way to experience the unique culture of this charming area. From your own home-away-from-home base, you can explore the area at your own pace; go shopping at the local market and dine in the trattorias. A vacation villa makes the perfect base to return to at the end of a busy day sightseeing in Rome. You can be assured of a comfortable bed and a homely living area for relaxing each evening. Vacation villas are spacious and well-equipped to a high standard, despite their sometimes historic exterior. Outdoor living is part of the pleasure of staying in Lazio. Most vacation villas have paved terraces and gardens from which to enjoy views of the surrounding area.

Things to do in Rome from Lazio, Italy Accommodations

Lazio is well known for its arts, history, architecture, churches, archaeology and cultural inheritance. The eternal city of Rome has something for everyone including the Vatican City with St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel and the extensive Vatican Museums. The sights of the ancient city include the Forum, Palatine Hill, the Coliseum and Nero’s Palace. The Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and the many churches are delightful places to wander around and discover for yourself. Designer shopping and small boutiques line the streets along with many cafés and restaurants. Those who appreciate fine art and architecture will be overwhelmed by all this city has to offer.

Traveling Around Lazio, Italy Villas

The main airport is Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) International Airport which is approximately 30 km (20 miles) southwest of Rome. Ciampino Airport is smaller and closer to the city center, just 15 km (10 miles) southeast of the city. It is popular with discount airlines such as Ryan Air which offers flights to many major European cities.

Places to Visit From Lazio

The area of Ostia Antica is an ancient city about 20 minutes from Rome. Here you can see the amphitheater, public buildings, cafés, firemen’s barracks and the local synagogue. Ostia Antica is a great alternative to the busier city of Pompeii.

A 90-minute drive into the mountains will reward visitors with snow-capped mountains and beautiful vistas. The area is home to more than a dozen 13th-century monasteries, attributed to St. Francis. Day trips to the lakes at Bracciano, Bosena and Nemi are perfect antidotes to the crowds of Rome. South of Lazio, there are a number of beautiful beaches along the coast offering wide sandy beaches and safe swimming.

Lazio’s Climate and Weather

Lazio enjoys a perfect Mediterranean maritime climate. It benefits from the fresh sea breezes during the hot summer months; the winter months are mild and sunny. The mountains are the perfect escape from the heat during July and August. However, a visit to Rome can be enjoyed at any time of year as there is so much to see and do indoors.
