  • 4 Nights in Rome

"Very happy with the overall accommodations. Good size bedrooms and bathrooms. Loved the location. Quiet neighborhood, close to market, busy working streets nearby. Easy walk to some good sites. Really enjoyed the Borghese Museum and Garden, very cool and not so crowded. Book a guided tour of the coliseum, well worth the money not wait in long lines. Nice to have all your questions answered by an expert."

  • Loved My Stay!

"Maurizio is a truly wonderful host with great taste. I had stayed in one of his other places in the past and loved it. Beautifully decorated with art and furnishings from his world travels and very warm and comforting as well. Not to mention the good quality linens and amazing bathrooms, completely renovated with great water pressure (highly unusual in Rome rentals). Perfectly clean. After staying in the is neighborhood once, I don't even consider any other area of Rome for a quality stay (and I have been traveling to Rome for 30 years). Comfortably walking you can see all the major sites by foot...from the Colosseo, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and work your way back through Trastevere with a short walk along the river (lovely in the evening) and be home to a great safe neighborhood where locals eat (without the crazy touristy prices). I am a real foodie and the best butchers and bakeries and Testaccio market are wonderful and having a place to cook a little is a huge plus. My favorite coffee bars and restaurants are all in Testaccio as well. Highly recommended in every way. I can't wait to come back! Thank You Maurizio for your hospitality!"

  • Great flat, comfortable, easy access

"My wife and I just spent 10 days at the flat, and it was a pleasure. Quiet location, 5 minute walk to Rome Metro subway so easy to get to where ever you want within Rome or regional trains. All the amenities you would want, very clean, easy shopping and market nearby. I'd recommend with no hesitation."

  • A gem of an apartment

"La Guilia was a delightful apartment for my week in Rome. The location was perfect....near the beautiful Piazza Farnese and the Campo di Fiori, and nestled close to the river, just off Via Guilia. It was quiet and comfortable for my daughter and me. I have a thing for spiral staircases and this one did not disappoint!! The apartment is small by American standards, but very well laid out and had everything that we needed. I would book it again in a heartbeat. Stefano's car service was a wonderful recommendation. The driver contacted our greeter who was waiting outside the apartment when we arrived. It all went like clockwork for my first visit to Rome. The recommendations and information provided by Italy Perfect on everything from restaurants to telephone use was invaluable and most appreciated. I'll be back!!!"

Latium (Lazio) Travel Tips

Stay in Style at Lazio, Italy Vacation Rentals

The region of Lazio, also known as Latium, is about halfway down the western side of the “boot” of Italy and includes the capital city of Rome. Inhabited long before the Romans arrived, the area has a long and fascinating history. It was part of the Papal States governed by the Vatican until the 1860s and not a particularly wealthy area at that time. Now a key area for the production of wine, agriculture, manufacturing and textiles, the area is currently flourishing. The city of Rome is at the heart of the region, with all its historic sights and attractions.

Lazio, Italy Vacation Rentals are Perfect for Family Vacations

Renting a vacation rental in the Lazio region is the best way to experience the unique culture of this charming area. From your own home-away-from-home base, you can explore the area at your own pace; go shopping at the local market and dine in the trattorias. A vacation villa makes the perfect base to return to at the end of a busy day sightseeing in Rome. You can be assured of a comfortable bed and a homely living area for relaxing each evening. Vacation villas are spacious and well-equipped to a high standard, despite their sometimes historic exterior. Outdoor living is part of the pleasure of staying in Lazio. Most vacation villas have paved terraces and gardens from which to enjoy views of the surrounding area.

Things to do in Rome from Lazio, Italy Accommodations

Lazio is well known for its arts, history, architecture, churches, archaeology and cultural inheritance. The eternal city of Rome has something for everyone including the Vatican City with St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel and the extensive Vatican Museums. The sights of the ancient city include the Forum, Palatine Hill, the Coliseum and Nero’s Palace. The Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and the many churches are delightful places to wander around and discover for yourself. Designer shopping and small boutiques line the streets along with many cafés and restaurants. Those who appreciate fine art and architecture will be overwhelmed by all this city has to offer.

Traveling Around Lazio, Italy Villas

The main airport is Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) International Airport which is approximately 30 km (20 miles) southwest of Rome. Ciampino Airport is smaller and closer to the city center, just 15 km (10 miles) southeast of the city. It is popular with discount airlines such as Ryan Air which offers flights to many major European cities.

Places to Visit From Lazio

The area of Ostia Antica is an ancient city about 20 minutes from Rome. Here you can see the amphitheater, public buildings, cafés, firemen’s barracks and the local synagogue. Ostia Antica is a great alternative to the busier city of Pompeii.

A 90-minute drive into the mountains will reward visitors with snow-capped mountains and beautiful vistas. The area is home to more than a dozen 13th-century monasteries, attributed to St. Francis. Day trips to the lakes at Bracciano, Bosena and Nemi are perfect antidotes to the crowds of Rome. South of Lazio, there are a number of beautiful beaches along the coast offering wide sandy beaches and safe swimming.

Lazio’s Climate and Weather

Lazio enjoys a perfect Mediterranean maritime climate. It benefits from the fresh sea breezes during the hot summer months; the winter months are mild and sunny. The mountains are the perfect escape from the heat during July and August. However, a visit to Rome can be enjoyed at any time of year as there is so much to see and do indoors.
