Recent Cinque Terre Area reviews

  • A bit of heaven in Italy.

"If you think you want to see Cinque Terre, I'd recommend staying in the gorgeous town of Portovenere. We spent several days in Casa Bella which is a lovely apartment overlooking the port, near the historic part of town, close to several wonderful restaurants, in a town where the people were welcoming and heplful. It's a town that needs to be explored itself. We traveled to Cinque Terre by boat enjoying the views and also by bus to La Spezia then by train. Easy to do. Arriving at the apartment couldn't have been easier since Sarah set us up with a taxi service that met us at the train station. The apartment is a delight and sitting on the balcony after a busy day of touring was very relaxing. We even went swimming in this little port in October!"

  • Perfect Honeymoon Stay!

"I don’t even know where to begin. My new husband and I spent half of our honeymoon split between two of Lilia and Guido’s properties along the Italian coast. Our relationship with Lilia began about 9 months prior to our visit: she was an absolute pleasure to work with and, though we decided to book right away, she graciously provided guidance throughout the months leading up to our stay. Upon our arrival, it was immediately clear that we had made the right decision. The accommodations were beautiful and comfortable, and the location could not have been more picturesque. We didn’t take advantage of Lilia’s homemade meals, but were treated to pesto, homegrown veggies and honey from their farm. Lilia, Guido and Guilia were such generous hosts—full of helpful information, always willing to lend a hand or offer a ride, and were simply a pleasure to spend time with. We loved the close proximity to the Cinque Terre, but found that we enjoyed the surrounding areas very much, too! We found ourselves very emotional to be leaving on our final day, but are sure we will find ourselves in Italy AND staying with Lilia again one day! Be sure to consider their Portofino property, too—you won’t be disappointed!"

  • Brilliant family holiday that had it all!

"This is a wonderful place in a fabulous location. We have stayed in many self-catering cottages and gites in Britain and on mainland Europe - this was the most thoughtfully presented and prepared as well as being very stylish. We loved having access to the bikes and I thoroughly enjoyed feeding and collecting fresh eggs from the hens at the bottom of the side garden. The main gardens are beautiful and spacious. This is a very special place and the owners are generously available to make recommendations and give advice. Staying here is a real treat. It is a great base for visiting the beautiful coast and Cinque Terrae national park of the five historic villages by the sea. The train station is about a ten minute (quick) walk and its about twenty minutes to walk into the lovely old town of Levanto and beach (a bit longer to walk back as it is slightly up hill). It is much quicker by bicycle of course. This is also a good base for visiting Pisa and Genova and other beautiful Italian cities. There are also some lovely walks can be done from the door for the more energetic or for resting and relaxing there are great hammocks in the gazebo area. If anything Villa Valentina is even better in reality than it is in the pictures!"

  • Above and Beyond

"Our stay at Villa Valentina was exceptional. Paula is such a thoughtful hostess, and we were made to feel so at home. Fresh eggs, fresh focaccia, a complimentary bottle of wine, extremely thorough directions to local shops, restaurant recommendations, bikes for our use, a local cell phone, everything was covered. We enjoyed our terrace immensely, the beds were comfortable and we felt so rested and refreshed by the time we had to leave. We love the Cinque Terre, and this was a perfect location to tour there, but also have some beach time in Levanto. If at all possible you should make time for Angelo's Boat Tour. It really was the highlight of our trip. Angelo and Paula truly go above and beyond to make Villa Valentina a great place to stay."
