  • Close to the Cinque Terra, Away from the Crowds!

"This very clean and quiet apartment offers all the comforts of home--with the added flair of a wide-open terrace view of the vine-covered Italian countryside. The kitchen is well equipped for creative cooking, there are plenty of high quality towels, the water is wonderfully hot for showers and laundry, the large (almost king-size) bed is very comfortable, and the apartment is delightfully decorated. We really enjoyed using the bikes, although we were hesitant the first day, because we usually cycle with helmets at home. We wore the safety vests (everybody knows you are a tourist anyway :-) and felt the Italian drivers to be very respectful of the cyclists and pedestrians. The photos accurately represent the apartment and the owners are extremely committed to providing an enjoyable vacation experience."

  • Super Place!

"Two couples stayed here for a week in October in this large, perfectly located apartment. Lots of room for everyone to both sit and relax as well as dine. Loved the view of both the sea and the park from our front balcony. Perfectly positioned close to a bakery, wine shop, market and many restaurants. We loved the fact we were staying just a 10 minute train ride from the very touristy Cinque Terre - we went one day and that was enough. We found lots to do in Levanto. Shop owners were friendly and one of us found a wonderful salon and had a pedicure - would highly recommend Christina on Remembrance street. She speaks English quite well and has a wonderful personality. Only downside is that the car park area is several blocks away - you don't need a car to get around at all but if you have one be aware that it is a 10 minute walk to retrieve it (you can park for a short time to load and unload in front of the Hotel Garden.) If we were returning to Levanto we would definitely stay here again."

  • Fantasy Vacation

"Villa Mesco is everything you see but more when you arrive. The photos cannot duplicate the ambiance and charm of this home. The views are beyond belief, they are fantastic. The house was perfect, 3 bathrooms in the main house and a bedroom and bath in the guest house. Paolo, the owner, was helpful, charming, kind and considerate to our family that included two young grandchildren. He was always responsive to all our requests and questions and helped us with reservations at restaurants and any other issue we might have. Paolo and his wife, Corrine, are truly representative of the welcoming Italians. They are gracious and kind and helped make this vacation one that can not be duplicated. I would highly recommend this place to people who are fit, love to hike, swim, eat and relax. The location of the Villa next to the trailhead that goes from Levanto to Monterosso was ideal. The Villa is also a five minute walk to the sea and the charming town of Levanto. There are many restaurants to choose from and different price points to satisfy all. There are not enough superlatives to describe Villa Mesco and the owners Paolo and Corrine."

  • Great Location for Visiting Cinque Terre

"Our group of 5 "young seniors" stayed here for a week. The apartment was well suited to our needs with 3 bedrooms, a gathering place, and a good location. The kitchen is the common room and has a sofa as well as table and 4 chairs, with enough room to add a 5th chair from a bedroom. One bedroom is quite small but boasts a walk in closet. We did not plan to cook meals during our stay so the kitchen was perfect for our evening glass of wine and mornings-before-the-cafe place. Except for one evening when the street life was noisy, the neighborhood was quiet. The apartment is owned and managed by the Hotel Nazionale; Mary and her daughter were helpful and friendly. The clothes washer and clothes line (out the kitchen window) were much appreciated. The only improvement we would suggest is to have wi-fi service in the apartment, as all the other places we rented during our trip did. But we found several cafes with good wifi (as well as the hotel lobby which was a slower connection). Levanto itself surprised us - it's a charming small seaside town in its own right as well as being a great location for exploring Cinque Terre and surroundings. The town is a bit larger than any of the 5 Terre towns and relatively flat. When we were there (April 28 - May 5), it was lively without being crowded. It is a strenuous hike to the northern-most Cinque Terre town, or a few minutes' train ride, or a scenic ferry ride to 5 Terre towns and Portovenere. There are several churches, a castle and a section of town that date back to middle ages. A small park near the beach offered a quiet morning place and buzzed with families, kids and tourists by afternoon; sitting by the beach at the Casino with a wine and munchies, watching the action at that end of the park was great fun. There are enough restaurants, cafes, gelaterias, and gift shops to provide distraction. All in all, a comfortable apartment in a good spot for our group of five friends to gather."
