  • Nice roomy apartment in great location

"Jim and I stayed here for the entire month of April 2014. The apartment was just as advertised-roomy, clean, great location close to coffee shops, restaurants, shopping, even a wonderful carry-out restaurant where we could bring back 1/2 a roast chicken or lasagna for our dinner. Rachel was very responsive to all questions. Our cons to the place: lousy pots and pans (we like to cook!) and a very old TV set that did not work well!"

  • Wonderful location - perfect hosts

"From our initial enquiry to our actual visit, Paola and Mirco were so friendly and helpful it felt like we had known them for years. The apartment is in a perfect location both in terms of the views and the convenience for local restaurants and exploring this historic and beautiful region, We flew in via Pisa but Genoa and Florence are equally easy to reach. Parking at the apartment was a big bonus in Bocca di Magra which can get busy at weekends. Bocca itself is a great place to stroll around; people were very friendly and many spoke English. There is a range of places to eat from fine dining to a pizzeria. We thoroughly recommend La Lucerna located right next door for a special wining and dining experience (separately reviewed on Trip advisor) and Sette Archi, located near the marina for a fish lover's heaven. The apartment is spacious and airy, equipped to a high standard and extremely clean but best of all it immediately felt like home. The views from the very large terrace are magnificent and photographs do not really do it justice. Wifi worked well, as did everything else. Overall we have no hesitation in recommending this apartment, which we believe represented outstanding value for money. Thank you Paola and Mirco. We look forward to meeting you again."

  • Week in Heaven

"My husband and I, our daughter and her boyfriend, have just returned from a wonderful two weeks in Italy. The highlight, however, was our week staying at Residence Deneb in Praiano. It was very comfortable and felt like home! The photos are a true indication of what it is like. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets from the terrace of the villa, swimming in the rockpool below, getting to know some of the locals in the delightful village, and eating delicious meals at the restaurants recommended by Elena. Praiano is perfectly placed to explore the Amalfi Coast! It doesn't matter what the weather is like, and we had everything from rain to beautiful sunshine, there is so much to see and do. Elena provided us with a very comprehensive list of activities! We could easily have had two weeks! I would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives."

  • Wonderful rental for family holiday

"First rate rental. Wonderfully decorated and equipped with a central location that is a great launching off point to explore Rome. We spent two weeks in Camillo and Veronica's wonderful three bedroom apartment and have no reservation in recommending this apartment as a perfect place for a family holiday. Would rent the property again on an subsequent visit to Rome."

Sicily Travel Tips

Discover Sicily Vacation Rentals

Sicily, Italy is one of the islands that the mainland owns. It is also one of the furthest islands from Italy in the Mediterranean Sea. As a large island, there are a number of destinations you may wish to visit from your Sicily vacation rentals. Depending on what you hope to see while on the island, you might want to stay in one of the bayfront Sicily accommodation homes rather than being more inland. Sicily has the distinction of being the world’s first “multicultural society.” It has historically always been a place for the mixture of different cultures, having been ruled by Asians, Europeans, and Africans throughout its history. If you want Sicily to touch you and your heart, do not wait to book Sicily villas for the summer months; travel anytime of year.

Travel Practicalities for Your Sicily Accommodation

Before you can book Sicily villas, you have to know where you want to stay. There are 12 top destinations on the Island of Sicily which you may wish to visit. Some of these destinations will provide you with white, sandy beaches, scuba diving, and sailing, while the others set you deep in the mountains. The top destinations include Aeolians, Taormina, Siracusa, Piazza Armerina, Palermo, Segesta, and the wine country of Sicily.

To arrive in Sicily, you have a couple of options. The mainland of Italy will offer cruises out to the island or you can fly directly to Sicily by using the Palermo or Catania airports. Both airports receive international passengers, though you will have to stop in Milan or Rome before flying to the island. The airports are generally small compared to most, but they do well to serve all travelers. Car rentals on the island are available if you wish to visit areas further from the cities. Public transportation like buses, trains, and taxis are also provided. Trains will depart daily from Palermo once every hour between 6 a.m. and midnight, making it easy to traipse around the island.

The Valley of the Temples Near Sicily Villas

Agrigento is known as the Valley of the Temples where you will find a nice Sicily accommodation. If you have a passion for archeology, this is the place you should head. Outside the town are olive groves and almond orchards. The orchards are celebrated by a February festival in which folklore is expressed. You can also experience several ancient Greek temples like the Temple of Concord. Agrigento is near Segesta which is also known for their Greek temples.

Mount Etna is Sicily’s Main Attraction

Whether you arrive in Sicily for the sandy beaches and watersports or for the mountain views, you cannot miss Mount Etna in the eastern section of the island. Mount Etna is perhaps the most important of all attractions in Sicily. Mount Etna stands at 10,922 feet and has the distinction of being the largest, active European volcano. The summit has mild eruptions each year but scientists state there is no imminent threat of it causing a major catastrophe. In 2008, there was a great deal of activity in the volcano which has since died down to limited eruptions in the past year.

Culinary Extravaganzas by Sicily Vacation Rentals

In Italy, food is almost an art form. Italians take their cuisine and wine very seriously which means you should take advantage of the local fare you might come upon. Your Sicily vacation rentals will have fully equipped kitchens, where you can try your hand at an Italian meal with fresh produce and seafood. However, you will still want to consider trying at least one local restaurant. Speak with a native of Sicily to find out where the best restaurants are located to avoid the more expensive tourist traps. By asking the locals, you should find even better food at a great price. Sicilian cheeses and wines from the wine region can be found nationwide.
