  • Springtime in Tuscany

"Though short, our stay at the Cottage was a most pleasant and satisfying experience. The weather was perfect, the hospitality provided by our hosts was much appreciated, and the quiet evenings filled with birdsong, crickets & frogs were idyllic. Two nearby restaurants were outstanding: Osteria La Pergola in Tavernna, and Da Alighiero in Anghiari."

  • Great apartment in a great Tuscan hill town

"We rented Sernini 6 for 3 weeks in October, 2014. The apartment is well suited to one or two couples or a family with several children. It is clean and well furnished. The main bedroom on the first floor is spacious and has a very comfortble bed. The kitchen is small but very utilitarian. The living room contains an eating table for 4-6 people and several chairs for relaxation. The apartment is well furnished with cooking utensils, plates and silverware, and a washing machine. There is no dryer, but a clothes rack serves well. The bathroom is small but very useable. The upstairs loft contains a double bed, couch, and TV-DVD. We ate breakfast and a few dinners in the apartment and had other meals in Cortona's wonderful restaurants or in other hill towns. The apartment is about a two-block walk to the town piazza up a relatively steep hill and about a 2 block walk downhill to the town parking area and bus stop. These walks provide great exercize--this is a "hill" town after all. The location is ideal to access hill towns in Umbria and Tuscany by car. Our favorite restaurants in Cortona are: Locanda al Pozzo Antico (try the macaroncini with ragu sauce della Nonna-the best pasta I've ever had), la Bucaccia, La Grotta, and Trattoria Dardano. The Galleria Il Pozzo is an outstanding art and gift store. Owner Ivan and wife and daughter are helpful and kind. The Tuscan Magic Travel Agency owner, Laura, was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. We rented a car and purchased all train tickets through her agency. She speaks English very well and is always ready to answer questions and make suggestions. The owner provides notes regarding favorite restaurants, stores, and friends in Cortona that we found to be extremely helpful. We loved using the apartment as home base. We would re commend this apartment to anyone. It is absolutely delightful!"

Cortona Travel Tips

Cortona Travel Captures Beauty and Wonder

Who has not dreamt of renting or owning Tuscany villas at one point in their life? Let that fantasy become a reality and start planning your Cortona travel today. With magnificent panoramic views, Cortona is a perfect vacation destination, whether you are hoping for a romantic getaway or a cultural expedition with the kids. In recent years, the town and surrounding areas have grown in popularity due to its appearance in two major motion pictures (“Life is Beautiful” and “Under the Tuscan Sun”) as well as its innate Italian beauty.

Touring near Any Cortona Accommodation

The town itself is very small so no matter which Cortona accommodation you have selected, your best bet is to explore the town on foot. In fact, if you plan on touring the town, please remember to wear comfortable shoes as these perfect Tuscany villas are tucked away among very steep and narrow streets. Be sure to include the Etruscan tombs and a visit to the Palazzo Comunale (the Town Hall), which was built in the 1400s, in your Cortona travel.

The Town Squares of Tuscany Villas

Part of the fun of staying in Tuscany villas is the easy access to quintessential town squares. Cortona travel is incomplete without visiting the piazzas, whether to buy some locally-made bread, see local art, or just to stop in a small café for a glass of wine. Do not miss visiting Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza Signorelli, and Piazza Garibaldi.

Cooking and Cortona Travel

If you love Italian food and cooking, this is the place to be! Be sure to book a Cortona accommodation with a fully equipped kitchen so that you can take advantage of some of the freshest foods in town (and some of the best wine on the planet)! If you can, schedule a cooking class which many hotels in the area offer. Learn how to recreate some of your favorite Tuscan dishes and prepare them with ease at home.
