"We had an absolutely wonderful time at Casa Helena. Our family of five, including three teenagers, stayed here for the better part of two weeks at the end of July / beginning of August. This was the first trip to Europe for the kids, and we left with a lifetime of memories. We had high expectations for the property, having heard of it from others who had stayed there. These were easily exceeded. Pre-arrival, we had received a detailed guide from the owner, which proved to be incredibly helpful throughout our stay. We were met in nearby Camucia by Stefania, who gave us a tour of the property (and greeted each of us with a very Italian two kisses on the cheek!). During the stay we made very good use of the newly remodeled kitchen and outdoor grill. Fresh vegetables and homemade olive oil and wine from the surrounding grounds complemented our dinners perfectly. Eating well is big for our family, and we couldn't have been more satisfied. We also made good use of the pool -- an excellent way to relax after exploring Cortona and other nearby towns. The views of Cortona from the backyard were absolutely gorgeous. The location of Casa Helena was likewise perfect. Morning walks up to the town of Cortona were pleasant. We also took day trips to Florence, Lake Tasiemeno (for wake boarding), Castiglione, Sienna, and nearby vineyards for wine tastings. All of these were easily reachable. As this was the kids' first trip, we also took an overnight trip to Rome -- also easily reached with a two hour drive. We did find that having a car was a good idea if you like to explore as we do. Our experience at Casa Helena was truly wonderful. We will definitely recommend it to friends."Guest: Andrew Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: August 11, 2014View listing
"I have just recently finished renting this apartment - and it was absolutely wonderful! We found Il Roseto on VRBO and started to communicate with the owner. He was great - all emails were answered quickly, and questions were answered. The apartment was clean and ready for us when we arrived - with a bottle of wine and fresh fruit on the table to welcome us! That really was a nice extra touch. The apartment is a great place....all very comfortable - with three nice bedrooms and two great bathrooms. The owner also had the TV and Wifi working - which is great to have. The best part of the apartment, though, is the outside patio/garden! That truly made it ...sitting outside having coffee or drinks in the evening was so nice! Cortona is a great town to visit - and Il Roseto really is THE place to stay! Fernando, the owner, is very helpful and easy to contact if needed....and we loved our time at his place!"Guest: Laura L. "Wonderful villa, great views, fantastic location. Everything described by the owners about this property is true and even understated. Plus their suggestions are well worth following. La Tufa and Il Falconiere are well worth visiting. Thank you Liesl and Danny!"Guest: Tom M. Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: July 4, 2014View listing
"My sister and I stayed in this very comfortable and historic vacation home during the last week of March 2014. Flavia, Fausto and Anna (their daughter) are wonderful hosts, extremely helpful (we had a flat tire) and accommodating! The house itself boast of heated floors (ground level only), a spacious living area, very comfortable bedroom areas, well equipped kitchen, very nice bathrooms. My sister and I were on a rather extended vacation and decided before we ever made plans that we would NOT share a bedroom (or a bathroom, if we could help it). We knew we were going to be with each other for many days on end, and we figured that we'd like some "alone" time along the way. Most of our accommodations were hotel varieties and met our standards/needs... but this charming stop along the way was hard to leave! AND, we also had access to the family washing machine (Flavia gave us a key to use whenever we needed it). The location was ideal, giving us easy access to Cortona, Arezzo and many other villages. The owners made recommendations for restaurants that were spot on!!! Some of the best meals we had during our 5 country journey were right around the corner!"Guest: Joaniebl Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: July 5, 2014View listing
Cortona Travel Tips
Cortona Travel Captures Beauty and Wonder
Who has not dreamt of renting or owning Tuscany villas at one point in their life? Let that fantasy become a reality and start planning your Cortona travel today. With magnificent panoramic views, Cortona is a perfect vacation destination, whether you are hoping for a romantic getaway or a cultural expedition with the kids. In recent years, the town and surrounding areas have grown in popularity due to its appearance in two major motion pictures (“Life is Beautiful” and “Under the Tuscan Sun”) as well as its innate Italian beauty.
Touring near Any Cortona Accommodation
The town itself is very small so no matter which Cortona accommodation you have selected, your best bet is to explore the town on foot. In fact, if you plan on touring the town, please remember to wear comfortable shoes as these perfect Tuscany villas are tucked away among very steep and narrow streets. Be sure to include the Etruscan tombs and a visit to the Palazzo Comunale (the Town Hall), which was built in the 1400s, in your Cortona travel.
The Town Squares of Tuscany Villas
Part of the fun of staying in Tuscany villas is the easy access to quintessential town squares. Cortona travel is incomplete without visiting the piazzas, whether to buy some locally-made bread, see local art, or just to stop in a small café for a glass of wine. Do not miss visiting Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza Signorelli, and Piazza Garibaldi.
Cooking and Cortona Travel
If you love Italian food and cooking, this is the place to be! Be sure to book a Cortona accommodation with a fully equipped kitchen so that you can take advantage of some of the freshest foods in town (and some of the best wine on the planet)! If you can, schedule a cooking class which many hotels in the area offer. Learn how to recreate some of your favorite Tuscan dishes and prepare them with ease at home.
