  • October under the Tuscan Sun

"My husband and I toured around Tuscany and spent 5 days in Cortona in this apartment. It was already quite cold in Cortona at this time of the year and we found comfort and warmth in this apartment. The heating was a lifesaver and heated the apartment as quickly as ten minutes after we got home for the night. The apartment was very well furnished and equipped for all of our needs. Our favorite room was the living area - wonderfully decorated due to the owners being friends with a well known artist living in Cortona. The bathroom had a great shower and a bidet and was very clean. The bedroom had a huge closet that we made great use of. The view was wonderful from the apartment and there was free parking right across the street. Mirko and his mother were excellent hosts, so warm and helpful. They even offered us a selection of an array of books that we made great use of, the guide on Cortona especially. The WiFi in the apartment was extremely fast - a huge plus!! We look forward to returning to Cortona, and will definitely book with Mirko and Vanna again."

  • Wonderful historic castle

"Forget Chiantishire - here's your chance to enjoy the real Tuscany, in this quirky castle packed with history. We enjoyed two weeks here with our family - loving the homely feel of the house, the pool and garden, enjoying great family meals, and exploring the neighbourhood. Anghiari was an unexpected gem of a medieval walled village with good restaurants and excellent local shops, while Sansepolcro was packed with interest including the market and the not-to-be-missed Aboca Museum. With an excellent train service from nearby Arezzo, the whole of Tuscany is easily accessible. Mario and Hermine were wonderful hosts and we thoroughly recommend Pianettole. Reached by a winding track up the mountain, access is not for the faint-hearted, but quite manageable and we loved the views. The main bathroom is up a fairly challenging old staircase, so not recommended for anyone with mobility problems."

  • Great wedding venue

"Our family booked a week at Il Refugio to holiday but also use the venue as our wedding event on the Tuesday. It was magnificent. The house was exactly what we needed, luxury, space, beauty with wonderful indoor and outdoor areas to be together but also get away for a quiet read. The house is extremely well appointed with everything you could need, a magnificent kitchen and terraces with stunning views. The pool area is large and well equipped and although it was a bit cool to swim we spent a few hours lounging around in the sun on the sun beds. I would highly recommend this vacation retreat if you like to experience the Tuscan life at its very best."

  • Grazie, Grazie!!

"My husband, I and two other couples just spent an amazing 5 days at Villa Stefania. Luigi and Stefania were great hosts. They made sure that we felt very welcome and had everything we needed for our stay. Stefania surprised us two mornings of our stay with delicious breakfast pastries. One evening we returned from dinner to find homemade tiramisu for our dessert. We were very spoiled!! The villa is clean and modernized, but still gave you the feeling of old world charm. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The washer was an added extra, so nice because we were traveling for an additional 8 days in Italy. The grounds are beautifully manicured with flowers, and have fig trees, olive trees, a grape vineyard and huge rosemary bushes. So gorgeous. The pool was beautiful, although the chilly weather prevented us from using it. We spent many peaceful mornings sitting outside at the Deruta table in the courtyard, drinking coffee and listening to the Bells of Cortona. We hope to return someday soon."
