  • Springtime in Tuscany

"Though short, our stay at the Cottage was a most pleasant and satisfying experience. The weather was perfect, the hospitality provided by our hosts was much appreciated, and the quiet evenings filled with birdsong, crickets & frogs were idyllic. Two nearby restaurants were outstanding: Osteria La Pergola in Tavernna, and Da Alighiero in Anghiari."

  • Wow, what a great stay

"We loved this apartment in Anghiari! The bedrooms were smaller than we expected, but certainly ok, and the ceiling fans were essential as it was hot. The kitchen was stocked for our arrival with basic essentials and the living areas very comfortable. The upstairs bathroom was noisy (water pump) and small, but the downstairs bathroom with a washer/dryer (we didn't need the latter as it was so hot) was just great. Because the apartment is in the upper city wall, the views out the window were amazing, and by leaving the front door open, we had a nice cross breeze. And the same for the upstairs area. Lovely comfortable furnishings and our hosts were in residence just down the street so we enjoyed an evening with them at their apartment. Anghiari is the perfect medieval village, narrow winding streets (it's on a hill, so there's plenty of up and down) with flowers everywhere, quiet, clean, lovely. We were met at the top of Anghiari at a bar by Guiseppe (once we reached him) who led us to the property. We were able to park our car just outside the wall so had a very short walk to the apartment from the car. We tried three local restaurants, all good, especially Da Alighiero and Feudo del Vicario. Would recommend this apartment highly, I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Tuscany!"

  • George and Penny

"A fantastic apartment right in the center of Cortona. We cooked a few meals (butcher and market were close by) but the Cortona restaurants were irresistible. We walked to most attractions in Cortona directly from the apartment - a little steep at times but an interim rest took care of that :-) During the week the overnight parking next to the wall outside Porta Colonia was no problem. The local contact, Marta, was most helpful. We recommend this apartment to anyone seeking a fantastic stay in Cortona and vicinity."

  • Quintessential Tuscan getaway

"Imagine waking up to the sun streaming into the beautiful windows from the sunflower field, and the sound of distant roosters crowing. (Or you can close the shutters and sleep in.) You walk into the cozy kitchen and make coffee in the Bialetti, then walk down to the pool, past the fragrant lavender in bloom, and jump in for a morning swim. Then comes breakfast on one of the terraces (fresh fruit from the orchard or Lucignano's weekly market; fresh bread, salami, and cheese from the local shops) followed by a leisurely look at one of the many guidebooks on Linda's shelves to see where you want to visit today: a monastery to hear Gregorian chants; your choice of nearby hot springs; the dramatic landscape of the Crete; a series of tiny hill towns along the winding roads; the cities of Siena, Arezzo, Cortona, or Florence. (The Prada outlet is also nearby...) Or you could just consult the long list of favorites that Linda has given you; most of the suggestions we tried were unforgettable. You can swim again when you get home in the afternoon, and read a while or just watch the ever-changing sky, and then have a nap by the pool while the green lizards sun themselves on the stones. After a nice hot shower, choose from the restaurants close by that Linda recommends, or cook yourself with vegetables and salad from the garden and/or meat from the amazing and knowledgeable butcher in town. A visit to a gelateria later is always a good idea too. We had a perfect vacation here with our kids and in-laws. Everywhere your eye falls is an exquisite view or flower or artwork, but nothing feels arranged or fussy. It's the quintessential Tuscan home, rustic yet comfortable, homey yet enchanted. The house and property have enough wonderful corners that you can always opt to be with the group or by yourself. We spent about as much time doing nothing as exploring the area, which is the wonderful heart of Tuscany. If you are a cyclist or a runner, you can turn right or left out the driveway and find miles of calm roads with amazing views. After two weeks we felt reborn."
