"Forget Chiantishire - here's your chance to enjoy the real Tuscany, in this quirky castle packed with history. We enjoyed two weeks here with our family - loving the homely feel of the house, the pool and garden, enjoying great family meals, and exploring the neighbourhood. Anghiari was an unexpected gem of a medieval walled village with good restaurants and excellent local shops, while Sansepolcro was packed with interest including the market and the not-to-be-missed Aboca Museum. With an excellent train service from nearby Arezzo, the whole of Tuscany is easily accessible. Mario and Hermine were wonderful hosts and we thoroughly recommend Pianettole.
Reached by a winding track up the mountain, access is not for the faint-hearted, but quite manageable and we loved the views.
The main bathroom is up a fairly challenging old staircase, so not recommended for anyone with mobility problems."

"We loved this apartment in Anghiari! The bedrooms were smaller than we expected, but certainly ok, and the ceiling fans were essential as it was hot. The kitchen was stocked for our arrival with basic essentials and the living areas very comfortable. The upstairs bathroom was noisy (water pump) and small, but the downstairs bathroom with a washer/dryer (we didn't need the latter as it was so hot) was just great. Because the apartment is in the upper city wall, the views out the window were amazing, and by leaving the front door open, we had a nice cross breeze. And the same for the upstairs area. Lovely comfortable furnishings and our hosts were in residence just down the street so we enjoyed an evening with them at their apartment. Anghiari is the perfect medieval village, narrow winding streets (it's on a hill, so there's plenty of up and down) with flowers everywhere, quiet, clean, lovely. We were met at the top of Anghiari at a bar by Guiseppe (once we reached him) who led us to the property. We were able to park our car just outside the wall so had a very short walk to the apartment from the car. We tried three local restaurants, all good, especially Da Alighiero and Feudo del Vicario. Would recommend this apartment highly, I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Tuscany!"

"My husband, I and two other couples just spent an amazing 5 days at Villa Stefania. Luigi and Stefania were great hosts. They made sure that we felt very welcome and had everything we needed for our stay. Stefania surprised us two mornings of our stay with delicious breakfast pastries. One evening we returned from dinner to find homemade tiramisu for our dessert. We were very spoiled!!
The villa is clean and modernized, but still gave you the feeling of old world charm. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The washer was an added extra, so nice because we were traveling for an additional 8 days in Italy. The grounds are beautifully manicured with flowers, and have fig trees, olive trees, a grape vineyard and huge rosemary bushes. So gorgeous. The pool was beautiful, although the chilly weather prevented us from using it. We spent many peaceful mornings sitting outside at the Deruta table in the courtyard, drinking coffee and listening to the Bells of Cortona. We hope to return someday soon."

"Our holiday in Tuscany at IL CASTELLETTO was incredible. The villa is amazing and is stocked with everything. The location and views are fantastic. We had daily visits from two of the locals, Lasa the dog and Carmella the cat. In fact, both of them showed up on the doorstep the day we left. We spent seven wonderful nights at the villa and did day trips around the area, including trips to the grocery store in Sansepolcro. Knowing a little bit of Italian goes a long way and my limited knowledge helped. I would definitely recommend a trip to the medieval village of Anghiari. It was one of our favourite places in Tuscany. Also caught the train to Florence one day (one day is definitely not enough though). Very hot in August, so the pool definitely came in handy. Our two teens spent time in the pool everyday. This villa is an amazing place to spend time while in Tuscany and I look forward to going back someday."
