  • Heavenly time in Cortona, Italy at Villa Stefania

"Lounging poolside from the lovely and charming Villa Stefania, we would gaze at the mountainside town of Cortona - with local wine in hand - lost in absolute beauty. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed a magical trip with our adult children (and grandchild) for a week at Stefania and Luigi's multi-centuries-old Tuscan farmhouse. They have the villa in impeccably clean condition with thoughtful creative touches throughout the place. It is large with the 5 bedrooms and 3 baths. Roam around the olive trees in back, inspect the vines, view all the herbs and gardens that surround the place. And by all means plan some time at the pool to absorb the stunning beauty of the estate and surrounding mountain views. You will also find Cortona to be a very charming town nearby. You have to visit its many landmarks including Fra Angelico frescoes and Signorelli paintings. Stefania and Luigi are also very gracious hosts and we were treated to sumptuous tiramisu one evening to the delight of us all. Stefania even drove one of our remaining kids to the local train station as the rest of us had to leave much earlier for a Rome flight departure. If you are looking for a comfortable yet otherworldly experience that will touch your soul, I highly recommend this villa! Salute!"

  • Highly recommended!

"This wonderful home has everything one could want for a stay in Tuscany. The house is spectacular! Beautifully decorated with breathtaking views of the mountains and valleys of Arrezzo. It was just like a scene out of a movie. Even though it was a short drive from the Arezzo city center, we felt like we were miles away from everything. Waking up in the morning, to the fresh air and gorgeous panorama was a great and relaxing way to start the day. It was especially nice to be able to return to the comforts of this home in the evenings versus a drab hotel room. Because Arezzo is so centrally located, staying at this home afforded us the opportunity to visit historic neighboring cities such as Assisi and Cortona by car. The picture perfect drives through the iconic "rolling hills of Tuscany" were worth the trip alone! It was also a quick and easy train ride to Florence or Sienna. We will definitely be back!"

  • Quintessential Tuscan getaway

"Imagine waking up to the sun streaming into the beautiful windows from the sunflower field, and the sound of distant roosters crowing. (Or you can close the shutters and sleep in.) You walk into the cozy kitchen and make coffee in the Bialetti, then walk down to the pool, past the fragrant lavender in bloom, and jump in for a morning swim. Then comes breakfast on one of the terraces (fresh fruit from the orchard or Lucignano's weekly market; fresh bread, salami, and cheese from the local shops) followed by a leisurely look at one of the many guidebooks on Linda's shelves to see where you want to visit today: a monastery to hear Gregorian chants; your choice of nearby hot springs; the dramatic landscape of the Crete; a series of tiny hill towns along the winding roads; the cities of Siena, Arezzo, Cortona, or Florence. (The Prada outlet is also nearby...) Or you could just consult the long list of favorites that Linda has given you; most of the suggestions we tried were unforgettable. You can swim again when you get home in the afternoon, and read a while or just watch the ever-changing sky, and then have a nap by the pool while the green lizards sun themselves on the stones. After a nice hot shower, choose from the restaurants close by that Linda recommends, or cook yourself with vegetables and salad from the garden and/or meat from the amazing and knowledgeable butcher in town. A visit to a gelateria later is always a good idea too. We had a perfect vacation here with our kids and in-laws. Everywhere your eye falls is an exquisite view or flower or artwork, but nothing feels arranged or fussy. It's the quintessential Tuscan home, rustic yet comfortable, homey yet enchanted. The house and property have enough wonderful corners that you can always opt to be with the group or by yourself. We spent about as much time doing nothing as exploring the area, which is the wonderful heart of Tuscany. If you are a cyclist or a runner, you can turn right or left out the driveway and find miles of calm roads with amazing views. After two weeks we felt reborn."

"WOW!! We so enjoyed our wonderful stay at this beautiful villa in Tuscany. Very high quality home, equipped to the highest standards, spectacular grounds and property. Ideal location is within an hour's drive of many, many Medieval villages of Chianti country, and Tuscany. The pool, pizza oven and bocci court are ideal for family fun, and relaxation. Exquisite!!"
