  • Location, Location, Location!

"The photo's are spot on, the apartment was very clean and if you need anything the owner is only a phone call or e-mail away and very quick to respond to needs or questions, terrific customer service. She met us upon arrival to introduce herself, show us around the apartment and ensure we were familiar with everything. This was my wife's 50th birthday present and the city of Florence didn't let us down, it really is amazing and you can do day trips to Venice via the high speed train, Tuscany via coach (which included Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano as well as a relaxing lunch at a Chianti winery overlooking the vineyards) without the need to rent a car and many other places, it's so central and the high speed train keeps everything so close. The apartment is walking distance to the train station and in Florence you can walk to everything. We based ourselves at this lovely little apartment which had everything we needed for two weeks and did day trips. This way we didn't have to pack and carry luggage. A trip to Rome probably requires three days to see most of what you want. It's about 90 minutes via the train and there's tours for everything and very reasonably priced. Take the tours as they get you to the front of the lines for not much more money. Florence is saturated with cafe's, restaurants, bars and bistro's. We sat outside and people watched at just about all our meals. The food is absolutely amazing and it's very common to have wine with all meals which suited us just fine:). It was all very reasonably priced. There really are restaurants everywhere and it seams like every other store is a leather store. Florence is the leather capital of the world and they have some beautiful stuff. I would highly recommend this apartment, if you're used to living in 5 star hotels this may not be for you, however if you want reasonably priced accommodation that gives you everything you need in an authentic building where you can really live like the locals in a beautiful ancient city this will not disappoint. My wife and I also had our adult son and daughter with us, the twin beds in the second bedroom were perfect for them and saved us looking for a three bedroom, although there is a sofa bed in the living room if needed."

  • A dream come true.

"Our family of 6 arrived frazzled from weeks of touring.Sergio and his villa i leonie was the perfect paring to restore our spirits. The quiet, idyllic location provided us with relaxed family time, which was a major aim of our European travels. The very comfortable villa & grounds , was both large and clean, which enabled our four kids to enjoy the big pool, play family card games in the open space lounge room and chill out in their privacy of their own bedrooms, very important for teenagers ( and parents! ) The villa is nestled amidst vines and olive groves and overlooks hills, studded with beautiful Tuscan housing. Our family enjoyed many a meal on the terrace that overlooks the beautiful Tuscan landscape, we all agreed that the location gave us our authentic Tuscan experience. Sergio is a non-intrusive host who cheerfully met all our needs. We had car trouble and Sergio cheerfully & efficiently organised a mechanic to attend us at the villa, which saved us hundreds of Euros. Thanks again Sergio. Sergio is a thoughtful man so I enjoyed his observations about Tuscan society, local government and the Italian economy. The villa is ideally situated for day trips to all major Tuscan attractions. After visiting teeming Florence, our return to the haven of Sergio's villa immediately settled our travel nerves. As the kids loved the pool and the short walks to the local shops we actually decided not to venture out on two days which rested the kids ( and us ) so that our trip days were all the more enjoyable. Reflecting upon our time at villa i leonie our family agreed that the combination of location, spaciousness of the villa and the personality of Sergio added up to a dream come true. We recommend Sergio and his villa as the perfect place to relax and enjoy an authentic Tuscan experience. As regards our other family rentals we decided not to file any other reviews as they simply did not meet our expectations so Sergio was the exception, hence our review. We are planning another return trip to villa i leonie which confirms our delight with the villa. So to all who read this review, rest assured that your time with Sergio and his villa shall fullfil your expectations."

  • Everything I was looking for!

"Three couples from the U.S., traveling Italy together...and this place was perfect for the 6 of us! We were able to walk from SMN train station...which was one of the reasons I chose this apt. You can walk to just about everything in Florence from here... the location is excellent. If mobility is an issue for you...keep in mind, there is a flight of stairs you will have to climb with you luggage. The elevator stops on the 2nd floor...and the apartment is 1 floor above that. The 6 of us are in our mid 50's to mid 60's...and this was not a hardship for us. The only negative I can think of, is there is no clothes dryer...which is not that big a deal...but your clothes will come out of the washer very wrinkled. There is an iron in the apt and a folding rack for drying. We felt very safe here...with the huge locked door on the street level...and the locked gate on the apartment level. The apartment is exactly as depicted on VRBO. All and all....I loved this apartment and would recommend it highly! Thank you, Donatella. Sandy, Gary, Rachel, Ruben, Darline and Rusty"

  • Perfect location

"We (me, wife, 3 kids) spent 6 nights in Florence, using this flat as a hub for some day trips to Pisa, Cinque Terre and Tuscan wine country, and of course the wonders of Florence. The apartment was spacious and clean, although a little dated. The views from the terraces of the Duomo, and surrounding countryside were spectacular. The location was great, right next to the main train station, so we didn't even need a taxi getting in and out of Florence. We felt very safe walking around even late at night, there were always lots of people around. There were several good restaurants very close by. The only criticisms I have are 1) the apartment does directly overlook the train tracks, so it can at times get a bit loud at night 2) lousy shower water pressure and poor hot/cold output- made for very quick rinse offs! 3) other VRBO properties I stayed in allowed final payment via PayPal, whereas here I had to come up with cash- can be a little challenging with ATM limits (also hate walking around with large amounts of cash) That all said, I would definitely stay here again and recommend highly to friends/family."
