  • Perfect Tuscan getaway!!

"My husband and two children (ages 10 and 8) spent 2 weeks here in July/August 2014. Paola is a wonderful hostess!! She and her husband, Fabrizzio, were warm and welcoming. Paola gave us a personal tour of Florence. The villa is as pictured - rustic and beautiful, overlooking a scenic olive grove. Looking out the bedroom window brought tears to my eye. We would go back there in a heartbeat. Highly recommend for a peaceful getaway with easy access by train to Florence and many other wonderful locations! Taxis are expensive - consider renting a car to get to/from the train station unless you don't mind a hearty uphill walk from the station back to the villa. No taxis at Lastra a Signa train station. Overall, this was the best vacation of our lives, and we feel so lucky to have found this little Tuscan gem of a place!!!! We visited Pisa, Siena, Rome and Venice. We spent a few days going to Florence. We spent one day doing a beautiful wine tour through the Chianti region ( - highly recommend for bike or car tours of Chianti vineyards!!! - ask for Elizabeth!)."

  • Perfect location

"We (me, wife, 3 kids) spent 6 nights in Florence, using this flat as a hub for some day trips to Pisa, Cinque Terre and Tuscan wine country, and of course the wonders of Florence. The apartment was spacious and clean, although a little dated. The views from the terraces of the Duomo, and surrounding countryside were spectacular. The location was great, right next to the main train station, so we didn't even need a taxi getting in and out of Florence. We felt very safe walking around even late at night, there were always lots of people around. There were several good restaurants very close by. The only criticisms I have are 1) the apartment does directly overlook the train tracks, so it can at times get a bit loud at night 2) lousy shower water pressure and poor hot/cold output- made for very quick rinse offs! 3) other VRBO properties I stayed in allowed final payment via PayPal, whereas here I had to come up with cash- can be a little challenging with ATM limits (also hate walking around with large amounts of cash) That all said, I would definitely stay here again and recommend highly to friends/family."

  • Meticulously maintained

"The apartment is first-rate on many accounts; it is clean, well furnished, stylishly modern and situated in a relatively quiet neighbourhood. The bed was extremely comfortable. We were especially appreciative of the air conditioning after spending a tiring day of sightseeing in the heat. Everything was in working order. Although the owner went out of his way to ensure that everything was taken care of, he was away on holidays during our visit so an agency was responsible for meeting us at check-in. Communication with the agency was not the best. Emails were sent to me from two different email addresses and two different individuals so I wasn't sure whether they were communicating with each other. More importantly, I suggested to the agency a suitable meeting time but they asked that I phone them upon arrival in the city. I phoned numerous times, but no one answered. As we stood outside the locked apartment, frustration was starting to turn to fear at the prospect of not having a place to stay when it dawned on me that perhaps I should dial without the access code (011) and country code (39). This worked thankfully and in fifteen minutes we were met by an apologetic young man. I have no doubt that the owner will talk to the agency to try to find a better means of meeting guests so it is without hesitation that I recommend this apartment."
