A room with a view!
"Our trip to Florence for 9 days at the end of November couldn't have been more perfect, in large part due to the wonderful apartment we stayed in. Torella was an ideal location, a minute from the Ponte Vecchio, around the corner from the Pitti Palace and across the Arno from the Uffizi. The apartment itself was comfortable and cozy, with breathtaking views from the bedroom at all hours. One of the unexpected bonuses was that it was extremely quiet; no sound from other apartments, neighbors or even the street. We enjoyed the terrace and found the living room very relaxing. Both our greeter and the doorman were extremely helpful, which was especially important considering our luggage was lost on the trip there. They were instrumental in our obtaining it without further problems. We loved being close to the main attractions, but also the quiet small streets and piazzas in this region, and especially the artisans of the Santo Spirito neighborhood. Restaurants within walking distance were all superb, and we found the recommendations in the apartment very helpful. We also made daily trips to the grocery store down the street, perfect for supplies for breakfast or snacks. We were able to do what we had hoped this vacation could do: relax and live as the locals might, walking everywhere, enjoying the beauty and vibrancy of this beautiful Italian city. We can't wait to return."

"I can't think of a better way to visit Tuscany. This location was perfect for day trips into Florence(we recommend at least two days here) and all the hilltop towns we wanted to visit. Among them, Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano, Arezzo, Cortona, Orvieto and the Chianti region. With easy access to busses, trains(in Florence), and highways, we were able to travel each day only to return "home" each evening to relax. The view from our terrace was beautiful. Slightly out of town and high upon a hill allowed for peace and quiet to reflect on our day of travel and plan for the next.
The path to get up to this wonderful villa is mostly gravel and steep, but well worth the trip once you see the view. We were amazed that we could make out some of the sights in Florence, including the Duomo and the Arno river.
We were happy to have a full-functioning kitchen. We picked up groceries and local wine from the towns we visited each day and prepared a meal to enjoy out on that terrace each night. The sunrises and sunsets were truly breathtaking.
The property itself is on an olive grove, and being here in the fall afforded us the chance to investigate the land. I brought my sketchbooks and watercolors to capture the famed Tuscan light.
Fiorenza, our host, was most helpful, answering questions and accommodating our needs. The apartment was clean and well stocked with basics. There were maps and pamphlets left by our host and previous renters that we perused. The photos and descriptions in the listing do not do this rental justice...it was much nicer than we expected.
We would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a place to stay in this region. It is imperative that you have a rental car though.
If were are blessed with the opportunity to visit this part of Italy again, we will most assuredly rent this apartment again."

"We stayed at Luca's apartment for 2 nights. We really enjoyed it. The apartment is very nice and clean. Luca was nice enough to meet us upon arrival and show us the apartment including how to use everything. It was nice to be across the street from the Duomo, open the windows and hear the bustle from the street, you really feel like you're in the center of the city. The only thing to note is on the top floor of the building - so be prepared to climb stairs! (it was fine). I would definitely recommend this apartment."
